What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Because I already have written 54 books, I wanted to add a psychological thriller reminiscent of the old twilight zone series to the growing list.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
For me, the characters in this book and my others seem to shout out who they are in my mind. I find that as I try to fall asleep at night, the characters come to me in that mystical place between being awake and asleep.
Going in the bathroom he started the shower running, then stripped down. Getting in the shower, Ray started washing. As he washed his arms, Ray noticed a small mark on the inside of his left elbow. Frowning, Ray studied the area. What he saw was small, but definitely a red spot. There was no bruising around the area. Quickly finishing his shower, Ray got out and toweled off. He stepped so he was under the bathroom light. Taking a better look at his arm, Ray wondered if he’d gotten bit by a spider. That might explain his strange symptoms also. Since he was feeling better, Ray wasn’t overly concerned. Just thankful if the spot meant some kind of insect bite, it was passing and not too serious.
Feeling better about his situation, Ray left the bathroom and crawled into bed. A few moments later, he was sound asleep.
Getting up, and on time, the next morning, Ray felt slightly dizzy. The episode passed quickly. Ray blew out a gush of relieved air, feeling everything was going to be okay.
Getting dressed, Ray hurried downstairs. Going in the kitchen, he grabbed a cup of coffee from Coretta’s ever present pot and headed to the dining room.
Coretta was seated alone at the table. She looked up as Ray walked in. “Well look at you, up and early just like the bird searching for a worm.”
Ray laughed. “No worms for this bird, but I think I smell bacon. If you have plenty I’d love some.”
Coretta started to stand, but Ray waved her off. “I can get my own plate Coretta. You sit there and enjoy your coffee.”
Returning to the kitchen, Ray found not only bacon but a pan of eggs on the stove. Grabbing a dish from the cupboard, he filled his plate before returning to the dining area.
Just as Ray sat down, Paul Weston walked in the room.
He smiled at Coretta, but turned to look at Ray. “I hope you can finish up any projects you’re working on today. Mr. Boskovic wants everyone down in the vineyards in the morning. The grapes are ready for harvest.”
Ray stared at Paul surprised, but Coretta smiled. “Already? That’s good news. Looks like we’ll be having the Harvest Ball right on time.”
