Marla’s joyous move to a new house with her husband, Detective Dalton Vail, is marred by their next-door neighbor who erects an illegal fence between their properties. When Dalton reminds the man of the local permitting laws, tempers flare—and worse, the neighbor is found dead the following day. Dismayed when Dalton is removed from the case due to a conflict of interest, Marla decides it’s up to her to find the killer. Can the intrepid hairstylist untangle the clues and pin down the culprit before he strikes again?
How did you decide to create a trailer and what was your experience?
I followed my own guidelines for creating a trailer using Windows Movie Maker as described in this blog: http://nancyjcohen.wordpress.com/2013/12/19/how-to-make-a-book-trailer/
It was fun selecting photos of people who looked like my suspects on the royalty-free image sites. Getting the right music was a bit harder but I finally found the perfect piece.
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Like many of my mysteries, a personal experience inspired this story that involves the murder of a homeowners’ association president. Who hasn’t had a quarrel with their HOA? It’s a premise many readers can relate to and one that follows logically in my overall series arc. Hanging By A Hair is #11 in the Bad Hair Day Mysteries, and the story again includes my trademark humor. Figuring out the suspects is always the fun part for me.
