Shabby Chic at Heart is book one of a trilogy about ladies who love the shabby chic craze. Tara (book one) is a bit of a control freak and is determined to save every old house in the county. Justin moved to town to build flashy new resorts for big money clients, and that involves tearing down old houses. He and Tara inevitably butt heads, but when what Justin initially thinks is small town clannishness turns out to be long buried secrets about the locals, Tara, and her past. Although the story deals with serious topics and has sexual situations, it’s a PG13, lighthearted, inspiring book with plenty of romance, humor, junk lovin’, pickin’, and shabby chic style.
About the Author
Besides writing, I love to recycle old treasures, redo furniture, and remodel our house. About the time my garage was stuffed with projects, I realized if I wanted to keep my happy home, I better live vicariously and write about remodeling. Early on in the writing process, I knew I would create a leading lady who is smart and tough, but vulnerable and sweet underneath. Maybe because that's how I see myself, haha. And since my heroine had to be involved with before-and-afters and saving old things, I needed to give her a leading man who is as confused by the whole shabby chic movement as my poor husband is! The rest of Smithville, the setting for my story, pretty much created itself with a cast of charming and quirky characters. To my delight, the book was a hit, and readers called for more, so I continued with a trilogy!
