Running a marathon is a great goal, but after getting married, moving overseas, and having twin girls, it was hard to do any kind of workout. Whether you want to run a marathon for a cause, to get into shape, or for any other reason, you will prove something to yourself that you can push your body and mind further than you thought possible. A lot goes into training, and I’ve taken the knowledge I’ve gained training for a marathon after several years off from working out combined with my experience in nutrition and background in meteorology to give a practical, relatable, easy-to-follow training guidebook for the novice, busy runner. You can follow the advice, laugh at the stories, and before you know it, you will be crossing the finish line and be one of the 0.5% of the population who has finished a 26.2 mile (42.2 km) marathon, and check it off your bucket list!

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
My wife and one of her friends named Hassan Osman. My wife always knew I wanted to write a book, but I never felt like I had the time. Her friend, Hassan Osman, had started this podcast called "Writer on the Side", which goes through the process of how to write your book while having a full time job. I followed that process and have loved the results!
I don’t love the idea of squeezing into a skin-tight shirt that feels like a sausage trying to escape its casing. I don’t like tight shorts either because at the end of the day, it just makes me look like I’m carrying grapes in the wrong place. As you go, you’ll know what you need and will seek out the gear to correct any deficiency, and that’ll make the search much easier. That being said, there is one thing I would not recommend going cheap on: shoes. Get the right shoes and get them right away. Good shoes while running are a lot like a good hotel while on a romantic getaway: you’ll never be upset by spending a little bit more than you wanted, but you’ll definitely regret it if you try to go cheap and it doesn’t work out. From my standpoint, I’d even go to a good sporting goods store where someone versed in this equipment can even measure your foot arch, observe your running stride, and fit you for the right shoes. Some work better with high arches, some work better with low arches, and some work better with outer food strides versus inner foot strides. Your shoes are the most important part of your gear, and you’ll likely become very brand-loyal.
