What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I was inspired to write this story after being invited to particpate in a beach themed summer compilation. The beach I spent most of my time on, growing up, are the beaches along the shores of Lake Ontario. This led me to remember all the times I sat with my toes dangling in the water, on the side of my father’s sail boat, imagining all sorts of things as I watched the dark shadows of fish swim around the boat. The characters took the story from there.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
My main character is named after a cousin of mine, but the characters very much developed as the story came to be. This story was completely pantsed, no plotting or outlining what so ever.
Someone was trying to say something, maybe to her? But it sounded muffled and her ears popped painfully, making her try to grab her head. Grandmother kept a firm hold, and Sandy could not shake her off.
Opening her mouth to ask what was happening she found herself gulping water, unable to breathe.
I’m going to drown.
