Donta ‘Naughty’ is Don Quixote’s second cousin who’d decided to replicate Don’s famous antics, and obviously disobeying his father’s wishes by doing this.
However, he doesn’t get far in his travels, when an encounter with Carlotta, a tavern keeper’s daughter, changes everything he’d ever known and puts his plans on hold.
She persuades Donta to comply with her own strange plans. But the outcome of these plans changes everything for both of them…

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Previously appearing in the anthology Dirty Dozen Vampire Edition, they suggested a name for my entry. The name was "Donta."
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
I combined the familiar story of Don Quixote with vampires. Added a bit of spice, and he became "Donta Naughty."
Donta stares at the tavern’s signage before he glances once more at a faded letter his second cousin had left behind a decade or so ago; weeks before setting off for his journey which is now seemingly making him famous across the land. His second cousin’s story is one of bravery and adventure. Donta wants the same…
He’d hoped to persuade his father’s youngest servant to accompany him, but the servant had refused.
In the end, Donta set off alone – quietly and early so not to fall victim to the ridicule of the cook and the house maids who always seem to come after him for more than just companionship.
“I guess this is it,” he mumbles. His words are greeted by laughter coming from inside the inn; as if they were laughing at him. He feels his face heat up.
“Fuck it. I’m hungry and if they’re laughing at me, so be it,” he says pointedly, without having any real audience for the words, “And you can keep your thoughts to yourself…”
Donta looks down.
It’s clear that one specific sound from within the tavern causes the feeling of embarrassment he now seems to experience.
He looks back up at the tavern’s signage to scrutinise it once more. He opens the door a moment later, and it’s the silence greeting him now that puts worry into his mind…
A sultry woman with long black hair stares at him. She smiles at the newcomer, she turns and grabs two large mugs from a shelf behind her. She calls out and a stocky man appears from a room beyond the bar. The man immediately scrutinises the newcomer, like every other person present is doing, seemingly. Donta feels his face becoming hotter. He’s convinced the woman is scrutinising one specific part of him…
“You want beer?” she calls out, obviously aiming the question at Donta, “What’s your name? All of us here know each other’s names…”
Donta nods, tongue tied, and obviously blushing now.
