What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
This is a story containing a lot of inspiration from today's digital media and is more or less a mix of history and conspiracy.
What inspired me to write this novel has a lot to do with my education, work situation, and different interests. One can say that this novel kind of seems familiar to science-fiction movies, such movies at Netflix and other huge streaming-services. But the essence is really the curiosity to question our reality, of how we see the world and how we choose to experience our world.
The novel is a mix of my thoughts and fantasy with history and knowledge from work and education. It's simply just an amazing thrill to create such a novel, and that is as well just an inspiration for itself.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
The characters in the novel are mostly inspired by other characters from books and media services, but at the same time, they've carefully selected. My imagination of them are based on different characters from a broad line of different media services, but however their personality resulted to be a mix of my experience with other people.
The protagonist, for example, has a personality based on different friends that are close to me and holds different personality sides from different friends. But still, the protagonist is based on a character I experienced from the media. Social dynamics are also a result of my personal social experience but still mainly based on scenes from media services.
My main thoughts and imaginations to create the characters changed during the creation of the novel. And then the characters sort of changed through the story and kind of grew to become real-feeling characters.
“Agent Taffeny! In my office.” Kelly threw her face across the massive main hall. Cpt. Shepard stood before the brown door, the very same door she’d sneaked into. She had just finished her sneaky research. She stood before a black door to a guard room, where the sensitive ID card was stored. Without any further hesitation pushed she herself away from the door. Two rows of soldiers marched between them, the very same soldiers that had gone with him. She sprawled across. “What were you doing over there?” The suspicion in his tone surged adrenaline through her body. “Just checking if I had access.”
“Did you have?”
“No,” she gulped and shook her head. Cpt. Shepard straightened a half-smile. The brown door had irised open by his arm, “ladies first.” She shuffled inside nervously with her heart expanding and contracting faster. ‘Oh my god! What if he sees someone has been here. What if he knows!? Keep calm. Keep calm.’ She shuffled further into the room, if he knew, she wanted as much space between them as possible. She couldn’t stand the urge telling her to run when she’s was within his arm length. “Agent Taffeny, ya okay? You look…anxious.” Cpt. Shepard’s voice etched into the room and whirred through the air unison.
‘Oh no! Calm down Kelly! Calm down.’ She swooped down into a chair by the meeting table and dug her spine deep in the chair as possible. She folded her arms across herself to hide her stomach bobbing up and down. “Only tired, and excited to hear about the mission,” she explained. Cpt. Shepard rolled his feet steady to the opposite side of the table. He raked through his hair with one hand and picked up a cigar with the other. It was pitch silence as he’d lit his cigar. The smoke rolled out of his wrath. Kelly wanted to break the silence with something, but she couldn’t get her inner voice in a panic to shut up. “SO!” Kelly jolted awake and gazed at him. He emerged down to the chair exactly across to her. He bowed forth and inched closer to her. “You’re a really sneaky bitch.” The air choked in her throat and blood flushed up to here’s head, ‘he does know!’ The heart-wrenching acid taste gulped up to back of here’s throat. “I’ll give you one chance to tell me,” he expressed with a tight-lipped smile. Her knees went all rubbery, his icy tone made a chill whirr in the air, so icy here’s neck hair stood up. She frowned, a terrifying guilt pulsated in her owlishly eyes. Her pupils floated around in the room, and slowly emerged to carefully landing at his face. She amended in her head. She jerked her head forth. His eyes narrowed. “I don’t what kind of bullshit you’re talking about. I don’t know a damn thing.” His eyes kept glaring narrowed, considering her, searching for clues in her face. The cigar that was half-smoked up by now, lit up threatening read in his mouth. Like a bull or a demon, the smoke rolled out of his nose. “You think I’m the bad guy?” It was a gruff voice bearing a deafening psychotic rage.
“You don’t know shit. What’s at stake, what the world really is.”
“So why don’t you tell me?” Kelly snapped intrigued.
Cpt. Shepard wheezed with a half-smile. “Certain thing I can’t tell. I do have commanders and chiefs above my ranks, pulling the strings. As you have with your department. We’re all just some dolls, doing what the strings pulls us to do.”
“You’re killing innocent people,” Kelly muttered abruptly.
“Huh,” Cpt. Shepard grunted hoarse. Kelly’s sentence didn’t change a wrinkle in his face. Cpt. Shepard inhaled one long breath of the cigar, he leaned his head backwards and let a smoke cloud rise up. He jerked his head back toward her. Just how he rolled his head gently around made her realize that he was absolutely out of his mind. “You’re crazy,” she gasped.
“Killing innocent people,” he stated and tasted the words.
“I would call it more like, a sacrifice so that others may live.” A chill tingled down in her spine. Her imagination exploded to thousands of questions. To save others? Save US citizen from whom?
“Agent Taffeny, do you know why I smoke so much?”
She shook her head frozen with just bearable small movements.
“While you were a small little fucking brat, shitting on the carpet like a dog. I was out in the world defending everyone else. So that you could sleep well and peacefully at night. I’ve seen things that we aren’t supposed to see. It haunts me. That’s why I smoke. So, before you judge me of what’s right or wrong, what’s good or evil. Remember this, you grew up in a paradise that I fucking built.”
