What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Due to my weekly internet radio show, The Ron Shaw Show, I have the great pleasure to interview great guests from around the world. Many of these fine people are fellow authors and publishers. After meeting many fine young and seasoned authors, my daughter suggested that I pick a few authors and publish a ghost/horror anthology. It was a brilliant idea.
For the next few days after she suggested it, I had picked from the authors from my shows. The very best writers were sought. Once the lineup was attained, we mutually decided a publisher and editor would be ideal for this project. I had recently become an author being published by Annie Acorn of AA Publishing in Maryland, USA. Annie is an amazing author, publisher, and editor.
After begging Annie to entertain the idea with reveals of what authors were chosen to contribute to horror anthology, Annie finally agreed to publish and edit it for us. She would also contribute stories to the work. A group of a dozen authors were agreed upon. The list is an amazing collection of the best writers around today like Annie Acorn of MD, D.A. Grady of TX, Wiliam D. Prystauk of PA, Susan Jean Ricci of NJ, Joe Eliseon of MA, Christina Paul of NJ, Steve Cartwright of GA, Angel Nichols of FL, K. Edwin Fritz of NJ, Peggy Teel of AL, Juliette Hill of VA and me.
Annie decided to break the original book into two books. The first book would be DARK TALES FROM GENTS’ PENS and the second one to follow will be SPIRITED TALES FROM WOMEN’S PENS. Annie is represented in DARK TALES with the six gents from the list above.
So, from my daughter’s idea two books will appear. DARK TALES is the first out. SPIRITED TALES should be out in September.
I’d expect more to come.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
Each author represented in this anthology has their own method of creating their characters. My characters within THE DEAD AND THE DYING are based on real people and their lives. I weave these FOLKS into my past professional life’s experiences. There’s plenty of factual tidbits contained in this horror tale of fiction.
Looking down at her cameo Donna grinned. “I love it, but it’s the strangest cameo I own. The lady looks odd and sad – a morose-looking, young woman, obviously petite and pretty, though. It’s almost like a death mask with two bones in her hair that mimic bun pins. She’s facing slightly to the right and sitting upright. It is a strange but lovely piece, yep, definitely, top drawer. You did well.”
“I better eat steak tonight. I figured you deserved something nice since you finished your radiation treatments. You’ve earned a little pretty. You don’t beat cancer every day like you have, mother. You kicked the big C’s butt, baby. I’m delighted you’re pleased with her.” Travis walked slowly toward the den. “By the way, Sally said she’s willing to part with it so cheaply because it’s haunted.”
“What did you say?” Donna barked, as she quickly followed behind me.
