What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
My experience as a seasoned corporate executive of 30 years inspired me to write a series of novels with a similar lead character. An ordinary person thrust into the world of discovering industrial espionage, theft, corruption and adventures. He has a distant military past, starts working for MI5 and his assignments take him around the world, coming up against foreign intelligence services and corporate criminals.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
I wanted the lead to be a corporate style Jack Reacher, a novice James Bond of business and the office. Many of the characters are inspired by myself and people I've known, with a sprinkle of added drama, intrigue and spy adventure mystique.
John Lyttleton went over the fourth-floor railing of the Dark Corporation’s executive suites. Adrenalin instantly fuelled his demand to survive, but to no avail. He knew there was no way of taking back the inevitable fall. Time slowed down as his brain raced to take in so much information in milliseconds. He looked back up at the balustrade he’d gone over and then consciously turned his head to look down on the rapidly approaching atrium. He could see his fall path and realising he was going to crash into the edge of the large marble reception unit, had just enough time for two thoughts. His contempt for Frank Dark, and ‘this is really gonna hurt!’.
