What inspired you to write your memoir?
I was inspired to share my story about looking for love–in all the wrong places. I wanted to teach others how to have a healthy self-esteem and self-worth while dating (and in general).
About your Book:
Croak Addict is a quirky, coming of age story that asks and answers the question: How many frogs do you have to kiss before you find your prince? LaTonya “Tee” Johnson, a naïve hermit, crawls from under a rock and experiences culture shock as she encounters one fake, raunchy, opportunistic guy after the other. The unforgettable journey is jam-packed with seduction, deception, humor, betrayal, sexual abuse, witchcraft, corny pick up lines, heartache, two celebrities, an overdose, and a billion and one blind dates from hell! Painfully honest and peculiarly sensational, Croak Addict will grip you—and never let you go!
Croak Addict: Hooked on Losers is the first volume in the Croak Addict Series. It touches on a myriad of topics:
Self-image, self-esteem and worth issues
Sexuality and spirituality
Dating and courtship
Beauty and Body Dysmorphic Disorder
Abuse (mental, verbal, sexual, emotional and physical)
Law of Attraction
Singleness and celibacy
Mind control, mind games, psychology and witchcraft
Emotionally unavailable men
Love, romance and relationship addiction recovery
How did you decide how to publish your book and where is it published through:
My publishing company is 4 Lepers at the Gate Publishing. I decided to create my own publishing company because it would give me all the rights to my book and more leeway, creatively speaking.
How do you see writing a Memoir as different from writing other genres of books?
Memoirs are personal. It leaves the author vulnerable in a way. It is daring. You leave yourself bare before the world, yet sharing on that level is rewarding. Many lives can be changed through your one life.
LaTonya “Tee” Johnson is a recovered “croak addict.” She’s also a singer, artist, t-shirt designer and ghostwriter.
She globetrots all across the United States on book tours, promoting her Stop Kissing Frogs campaign. She currently lives in Virginia—with her Prince.
