The story has many layers involving a lake – Sam’s dad supposedly committed suicide at the family cabin, after twenty years she has returned to find answers only to discover that someone is going to extreme measures to make sure she doesn’t find out what happened in the past nor what’s happening at the far end of the lake. She needs to not only avoid being killed but figure out who’s behind it and what just might be worth killing for. So for the cover I wanted the lake, Sam to appear as though she is being cautious but also determined and I wanted a bad guy but can’t show his face as Sam isn’t quite sure who it is.

Twighlight blue, a lakeside setting (seems a wee bit isolated), the expression on the face of the women, along with the outline of the man…..all spell intrigue & make one curious to open the cover to discover what this is all about !

I love this cover. The dark shades of blue reveal the suspense found within the book’s plot, and the silhouette has a definite air of mystery as well as danger to it. The main character, with the fold of hair across her brow, shows someone who seems to be on a run for her life. Everything pulled together makes a potential reader wonder what dangers she encounters, who the man in the background is, and how she will escape. I love Maggie’s books; they are all suspenseful and well written, and this one is another winner.
