I didn’t want a typical beach scene, it felt too cliche. I wanted something more as well as a little different for the cover. My publisher, Advantage Media, helped by proposing the idea of a bed with rumpled sheets. We had several different angles of the bed and the cover we chose best described the journey. We added the coffee and journal and I felt it was more fitting of the book, because it’s more than a beach book, it’s about the main character’s journey from anguish to hope. The best compliment I have gotten was from a blogger after they finished reading it, said “Oh, and I really like the cover. I didn’t pay much attention to it before I started reading, but after finishing the book, I realized it suits it perfectly.”

This is GORGEOUS. It’s definitely one of my favorite covers. Everything is perfect, even the & sign in the middle layer.

Love the clean lines and how simple the artwork is. Leaves a lot for the reader to infer.

I really like this cover. Sometimes simplicity is best, as it allows the reader to wonder. This cover not only catches your attention with the unmade bed and the color palette, but engages a reader to wonder “what is this all about…?”

I think book covers either have it or they don’t… this one definitely has it! There’s something really sophisticated and simple about the design that just works. Great fonts and overall a great design. Good luck!

Such a professional looking cover! The unmade bed is certainly eye-catching. Really makes me want to know what this story is about. Would definitely pick this up and read the description if I saw it on a bookshelf!

It’s a very fitting cover as who doesn’t feel Safe & Sound when snuggled in their bed? The lack of people and the fact that the bed is not made foreshadows the loss and loneliness to come while the coffee and journal alludes to things that help people find comfort. A perfect match!

I love how the cover translates to the story without being so literal that it takes place at the beach. So clean and crisp!

I agree with Amy — clean & simple were the words that came to me. The text is classy, the crumpled sheets give texture and depth, and the coffee cup & journal add little points of interest to catch the eye.
