The heart on fire is the main focus of the cover and is meant to represent the Firesouls in my book – the people who have dragon souls living inside them. The dragon in the background blends in with the smoke and you only notice it on closer inspection to show how it’s not really there – they’re always in the background and the story is based on them, but you never really see a dragon in the flesh.
I love the burning heart as the central image of the cover. It is also reminiscent of a tulip – a delicate flower catching on fire. The contrast of the flames with the blue smoke is great and serves to make the cover stand out. The silhouette of the dragon is very subtle and would encourage the reader to refer back to the cover throughout the reading of the book.
When I first looked at this cover, I thought it was a pretty unique cover, very pretty and pleasing to the eye. The heart on fire was what captivated me the most as it feels more realistic than you would find if you looked up “heart on fire” in google. It was almost like you could feel like your heart was on fire as you read through the book. The smoke was what made the cover intriguing and mystifying, which really relates to the story. You’re left gripping on the edge of your seat thinking “what’s going to happen next” and this is very much portrayed through the smoke. I’ve looked at this cover several times since receiving it in hardback and I never noticed the dragon until I saw the summary on this website. That is what I truly like about this cover. The fact that no matter how many times I’ve picked up this book, it has always surprised me in the most pleasant ways. The font is perfect for the cover but I do agree with others stating that the author’s name should be bigger and more dominant than the Series title. Other than that, it is a beautiful piece of art and will, or should, catch the eye of every passer by.
I really like how the cover relates to the book and catches your eye. Then as well that there are the hidden images that you don’t see until you look closer, which adds to the mystery that is in the book as well. Agree about the font as well, especially for the series title, but it doesn’t need to be much bigger. Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback! 🙂 Unfortunately can’t edit this one now, but I will make author name (and probably series name) bigger on the sequel.
What others have said — great illustration, but the author’s name needs to be bigger. I’d then step up font size for the series title, too.
I concur with Craig. Beautiful cover but your name is way too small.
I really love this cover design – the imagery is great! My only critique would be that the author’s name should be much more prominent, to help with brand building.
