Comments about why I chose this cover image. When you are thinking about your career, it’s important to have a strategy for getting from where you are at the moment to the results you see for the future. A successful chess player needs to not only understand the rules of the game, she must have a strategy for applying those rules to ensure success. Applying the best strategy also requires the ability to plan ahead, and even to develop contingencies for dealing with obstacles that may crop up in the future, all based upon the actions you take today. Just as in chess, life is seldom a straight line.
