Comments about cover design
I love slightly grainy, black and white photography. And since the book of poems is based on bar life in the French Quarter of New Orleans, the photos I took in and around bars ended up appealing to my publisher and we used many of them.

What an intriguing and luring cover…drawing me in to experience that unpredictable New Orleans bar life…complete with its imperfections and anticipated saving grace.

The door is open yet the doorway is obscured, what a perfect metaphor for poetry as an artform. Love this book cover.

Pretty smart to have the cover represent more than one thing to enter (a building and a book). It’s not just an old school photo, but a double entendre that I think works well.

This cover, with the open door, draws your eye in, making you want to get to the poems held within more quickly. The fact that it’s not a quintessentially “pretty” picture makes it even more intriguing. It’s especially fitting that this is the cover of a book of poems about New Orleans. It’s not always pretty and clean, but it keeps you on your toes, much like the poems in this book.

This cover is the perfect one! Looks just like the many seedy fronts of the bars on Bourbon Street.

I love, love this black and white book cover on “Human Crutches”. It gives me the feeling of when I lived in New Orleans of some of the characters you meet and become friends with stopping in for a beer in some of the bars and restaurants. Nothing fancy, but relating with each other in life, even as a mere acquaintance that evening. It’s a little haunting and very real. Love this one the best!

I definitely like the old bar entrance look and the grainy texture of the photo, looks cool and vintage, and since I’ve been to New Orleans I’m definitely curious as to what “human crutches” might mean in poetry form. Very interesting!

I like the photo you chose but I find the font used to be too narrow and difficult to read.

I don’t think this photo works well for a book cover.
