Comments about cover design
The picture is of me sitting in a foxhole on the 1st Marine Division ridge line in Vietnam in 1970. I don’t remember who took it; but I thought it had an interesting composition. Note the soda can, the bayonet (used to open soda can), My M-16 rifle and the magazine I was reading.
OK, so I have a couple suggestions. Take ’em or leave ’em. 1) Use the green, yellow, red pattern from the Vietnam Service ribbon at the top and put just your title in that box. Like a keyword, that ribbon pattern will speak to your audience and link to the title. 2) put the red box below the photo with just your name. You don’t need to add “BY”. The red obviously evokes the MC flag, so it should be surrounding you. 3) I think you can leave out the sub-title, but if you want to keep it in, spell it out “Reflections Of A Two Year Marine” 4) I’d echo the other comment about choosing a better font.
Sincerely,
Lou
I love this. Great moment captured.
You totally need a stenciled, military looking font for that title. Airborne is a nice one.
