1929 Jonathan’s Cross – Book One
Cover Designer: The Thatchery – Monica Haynes
Comments about cover design
M.L. Gardner and I tossed around several ideas for a redesign of her book “1929 Jonathan’s Cross – Book One”. In the end, she allowed me to run with it, and the resulting cover came into fruition. Since this book is one of my all-time favorites, I wanted to design something worthy of the story inside, something with visual impact and soul. I hope you enjoy it, too.

I love this cover with the St. Bridget’s (spelling?) Cross. It has great significance to me, and I love it. I think it’s perfect, and I wouldn’t change a thing. 🙂

The cover of the cross is truly a work of art. It’s bold, and unique. You will find it’s meaning in the book, and Ms. Gardner’s characters will wrap their arms around your heart. Bravo to the artist.

I love this book and this cover design is intriguing! The cross is a powerful symbol used to communicate a central motif throughout the story; therefore, the cover is not only appealing to the eye, but it also serves as an effective use of visual foreshadowing for the reader. Well done!

Love this cover, the hand tied cross represented something in the book, and the cover portrays the wonder and power of it. Would love a necklace like it too! Great book, great author, and what a beautiful cover!

I love the history at the turn of the century, and 1929 puts you right in it. You feel its soul leak out onto you as you read. I was one of the first few to read this book and it still gives me chills!

I really love this – the hand-twisted cross right in the center! The words are exceptional, too… when you realize this book is set at the time of the Great Depression. Kudos, Monica!
