Christmas is such an exciting time, filled with grand intentions, joy and goodwill and a vision for the perfect holiday season. It’s also loaded with the inevitable stress triggers … too many commitments, too much shopping and preparation to do, end of year work responsibilities, crowded stores and family gatherings.
The problem is our perfect plans too often hit stumbling blocks … someone gets hung up at work, some of our favorite ornaments are broken or the Christmas tree lights are hopelessly tangled. We run out of money long before we get to the end of the gift list, or the turkey comes out dry when we have a house full of hungry guests. We never seem to find time to bake those holiday cookies we were going to share with the neighbors, there’s a part missing from the new toy, or the kids can’t stop bickering.
Creating a stress-less holiday season doesn’t require dreaming smaller, just better planning.
Planning isn’t about creating one more thing for you to do, it’s about freeing you to experience the true joy of the season. Fortunately a lot of holiday related stress can be reduced, if not eliminated entirely if we would recognize ahead of time what our vulnerabilities are, and plan accordingly.
Christmas by Design is packed with tips, strategies and inspiration to help you create a less stressful, more fulfilling holiday season. Ultimately, it’s about creating more memories … learning to focus on the things that really matter, and letting the rest go.

How is Writing In Your Genre Different from Others?
More than any other genre non-fiction / self help requires extensive research and to always keep in mind that the goal is to help readers discover the power we each have to create our own life experience.
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
Read – a lot. We need to read a lot to learn how it’s done and to develop our own voice. The truth is your passion for reading must match your passion for writing or you’ll never develop the skills you need to achieve any level of success (financially or emotionally) as an author.
Marquita Herald writes about personal growth, the power of resilience and living life on your own terms. Her professional experience includes a successful 20 year career in international sales and marketing, followed by a decade of as an award winning small business coach and trainer. She has published 8 books and is the creator of The Business of Being an Author blog and the award winning personal growth blog, IGG – Tips, Tools & Tantalizing Ideas.
Marquita makes her home in rural Maui and when she’s not working on a new book, sharing inspiring stories with audiences; working on one of her blogs or locked in a battle of wills with her dog Lucy, she is painting or curled up with a good book and glass of her favorite wine.
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I write about personal growth and resilience and for most people it takes a lot of resilience to manage holiday stress and make time to actually enjoy the spirit of the season. I wanted to provide a guide to show readers that holiday stress is not given – that it is absolutely possible to enjoy the holidays and rediscover the true meaning of the season.
