Set in 13th century Scotland. The son of the murdered Earl of Ross, is a fugitive when his family, rival claimants for Scotland’s crown, are declared traitors. Influenced by MacBeth and the writing of Nigel Tranter it is a tale of high drama and suspense.
How did you decide to create a trailer and what was your experience?
I have a feature film writing credit, ‘Underdog’s Tale, and some friends in the film business and who work for television stations, producers, editors.
A friend of mine who runs a film and television school did my trailer for a free book.
I think it is very good.
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
This is complicated, I suppose there were four main influences.
1st, An episode of ‘Lost In Space’ where the Robinson’s are on a planet, with a Scottish ghost on it – of course, where do you think Scottish ghosts go, to the Scottish ghost planet – where else! There is this Scottish ghost in the mist, in tartan, a massive red haired, giant, warrior of a man. The pipes, the eerie music. The ivy on the battlements of a castle shrouded in miasma. The image had me captured, forever.
2nd, At ten I saw Roman Polanski’s Macbeth. Tt was the most spell binding nightmare, I never wanted it to end.
3rd, I read a Nigel Tranter novel, the ultimate Scottish historical writer. He wrote into his nineties.
4, I thought I had considerable Scottish heritage, thought this up to about 25 until my mother told me my grandmother was really the step daughter of a Scotsman & her real father was a Norwegian sailor, quite a scandal, teenage pregnancy, unwed mother, 1890’s, very frowned on. Thank God we’ve moved on.
I am almost fifty, oh how i am looking forward to that.
I was a cop for twelve years reaching the rank of Senior Constable, (two stripes). I got out with a stress condition and began writing seriously as a hobby. Very therapeutic, writing.
I live with my beautiful wife and two teenage children, both, great kids.
