What was supposed to be a fun weekend camping trip turns into a dangerous hike across another planet when three teenage boys are abducted from Earth. Their only hope of ever returning home is to escape from the laboratory that captured them and make their way across the alien deserts, oceans, and mountains. But while their journey is full of monsters all eager to attack the boys, it is their friendship and religious beliefs that are ultimately pushed to their limits.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Camping on Other Planets was something I had started developing over 15 years ago. As a kid, I would often lie awake at night, unable to sleep as I played out stories in my head of myself (and, frequently, my classmates and friends) going on fantastical adventures. And what better adventure is there than visiting another planet? Ultimately, I had to wait until I was a more mature writer to give this story a proper makeover, but it still has deep roots in my childhood imagination.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
Well, one of the characters is basically me, to the extent that I tell people they could probably learn more about myself from this book than the memoirs I’ve written. The other characters are based on people I went to school with, while the monsters and creatures are inspired by old toys and cartoons.
