How is Writing In Your Genre Different from Others?
Hard question. I think my writing is different from the others because I try to keep the story flowing in such a fashion that the reader doesn’t get bored. My characters are very believable and the reader can feel the action as it occurs.
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
Write what your imagination tells you. Don’t worry if it off the wall and out of the norm. Make your characters come alive in the reader’s minds and they will enjoy your work.
Don’t fool exactly another writer’s style even though they might have a best seller, create your own style!
Born in the cotton fields of Arkansas and grew up in Arkansas until sixteen, then moved to California (LA) where I lived for thirty-three years before retiring from the metals industry in management. I have seven children and twenty-one grandchildren with great grandchildren on the way.
I started writing seriously in 1987 on the computer. Before that wrote in long hand as a stress reliever. Now that I have retired, it fills my days and nights up because I enjoy writing and telling stories that come to mind. I usually work on two or three books at a time. Whatever the mood hits me when I crawl out of bed selects which one I work on that day. My Lightning in the tunnel series is just about all published except the ending one. I want to delay putting it out and finishing it until I’ve engaged enough readers to make it worthwhile. While writing book seven of the series, I jumped off and wrote my first time travel book called “T.T. Gristman” it came to me in a dream but it was me going back in time. I thought it would make a good story so I wrote it.
While writing book eight of the series, I had a thought what if an alien came to Earth? That created my book “A Stranger Comes Crawling” to be written. It and T.T. Gristman are out there for your enjoyment.
After publishing this book, I have went back to work on my next science fiction called “Chronicles of the Marauder” that I plan on finishing and publishing some time this year. Still sitting on the back burner is another SiFi called “Planet of the Midnight Mists” .
My western book, called “Saddle Spur” is sitting in limbo until I get back to it. So you can see I have plenty of stories in the pipeline and should have another two out this year unless another story pops in my head and I feel a compulsion to write instead!
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Originally written several years ago by long hand, I wanted to publish it. So I rewrote it on the computer. I originally wrote it seeing my daughters growing up and spun the story. My daughter Teresa loved the story and thought it was good. Mystery/suspense is not my normal genre because I was writing at the time, my Lightning in the Tunnel series. But it had to much sex in it for teenagers, so I wrote Brandi for them.
I hope the readers enjoy the spin I put on the story and all the twists and turns before the killer or killers are revealed.
