90% of startups fail. Launching a business is unbelievably tough. Blow It Up is a new type of startup book showing you how to launch a business, grow it and then sell it. Few books focus on the full life cycle of a startup. This is the exception.
Entrepreneur David Lowe shows how we can launch a business in a foreign country, fulfill your dreams and have fun doing it. The British/American maverick has written his own rules for success and Blow It Up contains many frank anecdotes that perfectly encapsulate the entrepreneurial spirit. Highlights include:
– Getting a deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers for a celebrity ping pong tournament with Jimmy Kimmel as host.
– Hustling to get his brand featured on national TV within a few months of launching.
– Managing to create a video for a Kickstarter campaign without having the product ready.
– Competing against the ping pong club owned by one of Hollywood’s biggest actresses and winning.
– Saving the company after an overseas factory was flooded.
Blow It Up is a rollercoaster ride that will teach you everything you need to be a successful entrepreneur. As soon as you have read the book, you will feel compelled to start your own business.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I published this book because I wanted to show that anyone can succeed in business. I failed at school and when I fell into depression, I was failing at life. Then I took a stand to turn it around. This book is the proof that you can turn your life around and succeed in business and life.
I discovered David Lowe and Uberpong in 2013 while researching ways to create a custom editor for my company, PopSockets. I reached out to him via email, and after a quick reply, we jumped on a call. What struck me most about David was his passion, not only for his brand, but also in his desire to help me, and to see my startup succeed. When I win the Nobel Prize in Entrepreneurship, David will be thanked in that speech. For the record, I may keep it a generic 'David', as there have been many influential ones, but I'll be thinking of David Lowe.
David and his team at Uberpong had built a solid custom editor that allowed ping pong lovers to upload their favorite photos from their phones or social media profiles, and have them professionally printed onto the rubber of the paddles. I wanted to have that customizable technology for PopSockets as I knew that it would help continue to grow our brand at an explosive pace.
David introduced me to his development team, and we worked together to build the first PopSockets custom editor. All the while, David was always checking in to make sure I was pleased with the progress.
Since launching the PopSockets custom editor in 2014, our company has grown in an incredible way. In 2018, Inc. Magazine recognized us as the 2nd fastest growing company in the U.S., and recently we sold our 140-millionth grip. That’ll buy a lot of ping-pong lessons, so watch out suckers! Truly, at PopSockets, philanthropy is in our DNA, and in a few short years we’ve donated almost $4 million to nonprofits making positive impacts across the globe. David Lowe’s generous spirit helped us lead the way to be a catalyst of such change.
David is the true embodiment of the American Dream: an immigrant starting a company from scratch, growing it into a global brand within two years, and taking it through to a successful sale. Not only does he know this process well, but it's through his passion to share his experiences and help others that makes him the ideal person to write this book.
It's my pleasure to contribute this forward, and to help David in any way I can. I wish him the greatest success with this book and in his future entrepreneurial endeavors.
