Towering in its scope it will challenge many people’s thinking.
The human race stands at the pinnacle of its existence. Or does it? A philosopher in ancient Greece some 500 years BC thought they were at the pinnacle of existence. Could he have been right? What have we learnt since then? What can the villains and heroes of history teach us?
Alpha sets out to examine this and the other big issues the world faces today and in the future and what we can do about them. Perhaps you will come to a different conclusion than Alpha, or perhaps you will agree on the need for urgent action.
What can we learn from mankind’s struggles, failures and triumphs throughout history. The book examines how the world and its people arrived at where we are today and ultimately what we need to do to have a sustainable future.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Concern about where the world is heading.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
Through a lifetime of study I have identified the people in history who I think are most important and have had the greatest influence on the way we think and act today.
Where are we going in the world today, how did we get to this situation and what can we do about it in the future?
I remember as a kid reading that the person of knowledge finds that the more they learn the more they realize how little they really know. This statement has stayed with me over the years. I cannot claim to yet be a person of knowledge only that I have tried to stay on the path, but must admit I have fallen off it many more times than I would like to admit. Searching for knowledge is a worthy goal. Many wise people have been here before us and no doubt many will follow in the future. I think I have gained some knowledge over the years and hopefully a little wisdom. Wisdom requires good judgment as well as knowledge and in my experience is very illusive.
I have taken on a very difficult task in writing this book. A friend of mine once said, “You can write the history of the world in a day, it’s just a matter of how much detail you put in.” Well I didn’t write this book in a day but have tried to concentrate on what I think are important people and important events in history. I have endeavoured to look at what we have learned from previous generations while avoiding long streams of narrative. This way I hope to keep things interesting and challenging.
We are starting to become more and more aware about climate change. For many people climate change is something to worry about in the future so why should we get too worked up about it today? There are calls to try to limit carbon emissions from burning fossil fuels and even the need to manage climate change when it happens. But I propose that time is running out and these measures are merely fiddling around the edges while “Rome burns.” The real fundamental causes of climate change that are not being addressed are overpopulation leading to degradation of the environment.
The author S.J. Morris wishes to maintain a reasonable amount anonymity at this stage as some of the concepts in “Alpha” severely challenge traditional thinking and the authority of “the powers that be.”
Even though in Western Society we have freedom of speech, how free are we really to challenge the closely held beliefs of those in positions of power?
Alpha challenges the thinking of the churches, political leaders and company directors. Could there be any more powerful groups in society to challenge than these?
Hopefully Alpha will also challenge your thinking, but in a positive way to help you see what is wrong and make you want do something to help humanity.
