I loved this story. Take a Freaky Friday situation, only with both people inhabiting the same body, and you get The Ghost in Me. Jamie-Lynn and Carly are opposites, yet they still end up being best friends. Things take a spooky turn when Jamie-Lynn says she's positive Carly has died... because she knows exactly where her friend's spirit went--inside her body. The story will keep you on the edge of your seat as Jamie-Lynn and Carly's friends try to solve a murder no one believes happened. What I especially enjoyed about the story was how this possession changes everyone... but you'll have to read it to find out what those changes are...

A sweet yet scary look at what it was like being a teenager in the ‘80’s, pre-Internet and cell phones, a time when people had to physically connect. Even when one of them is a ghost. This book is perfect for anyone who likes a good mystery, ghost story, or teenage angst novel, all wrapped up in one! I love the way this author makes you feel exactly what her characters are feeling, which is about the most difficult thing to do in fiction. A must read!

This story is aimed at the YA market, but I believe my reading list should be wide and varied as an author. Theresa has created a good story with a small cast of characters and an interesting take on the supernatural. I’ve read other work by the author, so I invested my time with confidence.
The tale is bitter-sweet, and by the end, I felt satisfied that everything was as it ought to be. There are times when the reader might change their mind about certain characters. Karma plays a key role more than once and balances the scales.
The imagery and dialogue are good, and although I’m from the other side of the pond, I understood terminology accepted as normal by someone in the US.
An entertaining read and not too long.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing and compelling story

This book is primarily aimed at teenagers and yet as part of a much older generation I really enjoyed it - the subject matter so intrigued me. How likely would it really be that someone would be ‘possessed’ by their best friend after their death? (And not just in the ordinary sense of heartfelt grief, but for real.) Ms Jacobs makes a good case for it, and includes a number of illustrations to explain ghosts, chakras, seances and the like, for those who are not already familiar with the subject. I found it compelling reading, as the narrator, assisted by Carly’s boyfriend and his friend, pursues the mystery of how Carly came to be dead, and why she then ‘jumped’ into her best friend’s body. No spoilers from me, so you’ll have to discover for yourself who murdered her and why, and how the story is eventually brought to a satisfying conclusion. If you are intrigued by the possibility of consciousness continuing in some form after death then this book will provide plenty of material for thoughtful exploration of the subject. And if you are sceptical but willing to suspend disbelief then let yourself be carried away by the adventure… it’s a great story, whatever age you happen to be!

5.0 out of 5 stars A different type of ghost story

Jamie-Lynn is distraught when her best friend goes missing, but soon discovers that Carly's ghost has decided to take residence in her body. The book investigates how, where and who murdered Carly and is aimed at teenagers. Nevertheless, it had a good plot and was an interesting read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unmissable at any age!

The theme of The Ghost in Me is so incredibly clever it held my attention from start to finish. Besties yes, but in one body??? Horror - mystery - murder - vividly drawn characters...

Classed as YA, it would appeal to teenagers. (Memo - gift for my niece when her GCSEs are over.)

Buy it for the youngsters in your life but do treat yourself to a copy too. It's one of Theresa Jacob's best!
