Other Related Duties: The Perfect Read for Anyone Who Uses the Words "Work" and "Hell" in the Same Sentence Kindle Edition
A sinister boss. A shadowy company. What could go wrong?
In a world of robots and AI, Clara Brock, aka The Terminator, made a good living firing people as part of global downsizing. Now jobless herself, she’ll mortgage her soul—or anyone else's—to climb a corporate ladder that’s all but disappeared. She spends her days competing in gladiatorial job contests against other half-starved workers trying to escape the low-paid temp work that plagues them all.
When a too-good-to-be-true offer from a mysterious corporation comes her way, she leaps at it. So what if her boss makes her skin crawl, her colleague drives her mad, and her workplace looks like it was designed by a fifteenth-century psychopath? Success comes at a price and it’s one she’s willing to pay.
Only when the true, horrifying nature of her job becomes clear does she understand what believing her employer’s beguiling lies will really cost her.
Now her career plan has only one goal.
Live to see another day.
A biting satire that takes some of the worst of today’s work culture to its most nefarious ends, in a future that feels all too real…

- Reviewed in the United States on December 5, 2022This book, set in an uncomfortably possible if fantastic future, was a wild ride. The characters turned out to be more than they seemed, and the twist genuinely surprised me. I enjoyed the heck out of this!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2023Honestly, I read so much that I rarely take the time to leave reviews. But this book grabbed my interest from the beginning and held it until the very end. Nearly everyone has worked somewhere that was less than perfect. But Hell? It's a great premise and makes for a very entertaining story.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 1, 2022Such a cute read. Enjoyed Clare and Raymond immensely. Couldn't put this book down. Made lemonade when given lemons. Positive even though facing negative.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 23, 2022I found this to be a really good story. I enjoyed reading it.
I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion
- Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2023This book started off a bit too scarily realistic, in a near future time where literally fighting for a job requires paying to participate in a foot race. It’s worth hanging in to get to the (hopefully) ridiculousness of literal bosses from hell. While the book ends on a v satisfactory note, I want more of how our heroines lead their workers — both humans and otherwise — to success! Quite fun.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions my own.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 26, 2022I like novels that surprise me with their quality and/or content. This novel surprised me. It opens like a Swift dystopian nightmare which, honestly, worried me initially. Too often such things can turn into a one-trick pony if the author doesn't have mastery over the material. Andris does. The plot is interesting, the protagonists aren't perfect, and they evolve nicely over the entire course of the novel. The satire of the inhumanity of business is always there, sometimes just under the surface, sometimes present in full force, but never overwhelming or sophomoric. Andris maintains a firm hand on all the elements, and maintains a perfect balance. Full disclosure: I typically don't read or like dystopian novels. Good ones are few and far between, and the rest are too typically redundant. All the more impressive to me that I enjoyed this novel so much! In short, it was a truly enjoyable and interesting read, and I highly recommend it to any fan of dystopian, fantasy, or satirical novels.
I did receive an ARC of this novel. That affected neither my opinion nor my voluntary review.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 29, 2022Man oh man what a great story!!!! It is not everyday you read a story that takes on social changes and politics with such flair!!!! From the first page this reader was taken on a terrific adventure through the work adventures of Clara and Raylene. These ladies deserve the best of the best that life can offer them...the trick is can they live through this to good to be true trial job? Also, what happens when Right and Left must live together and work as a team? Because, if this team fails, leaving Washington DC is the least of their worries. R.K. Andris has given the bookworms of the world a brand new way of reading and understanding the world around us!!!!! Yes, I left my review without any spoilers because I want every person reading this too read this amazing story. I would highly, highly recommend this story to anyone who loves reading. You will not be disappointed once you start this book. You will be delighted and you will have added a new author to your reading list!!!! Thank you Voracious Readers Only and author for my free copy of this book.

Loved this story. Hellishly complicated, demonically crazy. Characters are beastly. But over all funny with a feel good ending. Strangely uplifting.

4.0 out of 5 stars Story flowed well and held my attention.
I've been told that if there's one thing demons fear it's lawers. I enjoyed reading this - it wraps up the story (no cliffhanger and wait for part 2 nonsense) yet leaves an opening for more. I would certainly be interested to see how Hell's new marketing team get on in a sequel.
