- Reviewed in the United States on March 11, 2018This is a fun easy, fast read. When science meets fantasy involving time travel is where the storyline lives and shines. The characters: Sarah a lovely redhead and a prince. The story starts out with Sarah approaching an apparent lifeless figure on the floor of a dark dungeon. She has come to help the Crown Prince Lucas of the Mist Kingdom in the highland of LaMere. The prince corrects her by saying he’s not the Crown Prince but his brother and if she saves him, he has nothing to offer here. She does return the next night with food. As conversation ensues the reader discovers that the prince’s father, King Theodore of the House of Walker is close-minded, stubborn, vicious, and brutal per the prince and per Sarah a beast. The prince was out riding on his horse and woke up in the dungeon. He was apparently falsely accused of attacking and killing two men per Sarah but he protests he attacked no one. As it turns out he is in fact the Crown Prince and learns that his two other brothers have been murdered. Here the story conflict has been set and the storyline moves along at a rapid clip. Without retelling the whole story suffice it to say it was an easy, sit down in a couple of hours by the fireplace fast read. It’s worth picking it up to find out if Sarah manifested the courage necessary to ultimately be the heroine she set out to be. No spoilers. I enjoyed the read right down to the poignant dedication after the story.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 28, 2018This is a delightful fantasy story that blends the historical, magical and contemporary worlds with an interesting sci-fi twist.
While the mystery around Sarah and the Reds is answered as the story develops, questions about the fate of Lucas and the kingdoms of Mist and Marlowe remain until the very end. The story does have a surprisingly satisfying ending, although most likely not the one most readers expect or prefer.
As with many stories this length, none of the characters are particularly thoroughly developed, but the reader does come to feel that they know Sarah and Lucas fairly well, and that they are invested enough to want particular outcomes for them.
‘Red Sarah’ is an interesting and enjoyable short read that can be read comfortably in the space of a little over an hour, or managed easily enough during breaks in a busy day.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 28, 2018This is a fairy tale type book-except the woman saves the prince! And the woman, Sarah is a time traveler from the future--the prince is the much hated third son of his father the King. He is thrown into an enemies dungeon and Sarah has to rescue him! This book is not that long and will keep you enthralled and reading until the end!
But don't stop there--Please read the Dedication at the end--it is beautiful and obviously written from the heart!

The characters, the situations, and the outcome were out of the box and that's what I really love in a book.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 2, 2020I wish it had been longer but this was a fun read. I loved the character, Red Sarah. This story had a little bit of everything... time-travel, suspense, intrigue. I really enjoyed the story and recommend it to others. I have read other books by Carol Ann Kauffman and her writing does not disappoint.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2019A quick read that blends historical and time travel. A fairy tale that has a happy ending.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 7, 2020Time traveler Lady Sarah appears before Prince Lucas, a prisoner shackled to the wall in the dark, dank dungeon of Marlow Castle. Did he imagine her? How does she get in and out of his locked cell? What is Sarah’s mission? Sarah is the last of the Reds, a line of people killed by Misters who feared them for their abilities. Prince Lucas’ oldest brother Marcus, Crown Prince of Mist, is heir to the throne. His older brother Darius is next in line. If something happens to the line of succession, there will be turmoil and a civil war. Who wants to eradicate the line? Will there be peace with King Jason or hostility between the highlands and lowlands? What will happen to Sarah and Lucas? “Red Sarah” has romance, intrigue and more in this lovely short story.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2019Sometimes you need to get out of the box along with thinking outside it. Enjoyable.

2.0 out of 5 stars A miss
This book missed its mark. What was the actual point of the story besides Red Sarah helping the prince escape then they live happily ever after? The problems that surfaced weren't cleared up at all. The peace declared between the highlands and the lowlands were done over a few words. Too easy. Red Sarah and Prince Lucas were suddenly in love. No build up of their relationship. It wasn't the worst read, but it could have been better.
