Forever Cursed (Never Ever Series Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars 16 ratings

Captain James
Peter may as well be imprisoned on Neverland with us for he consumes Miss Bell’s thoughts, stealing her away from me. His retaliation is a constant threat of which we cannot escape. Even so, that pathetic excuse of a man is the least of my worries. Corrupt and vile creatures rule this tiny spit of land, brought here by fairies, by Miss Bell.
Whether she admits it or not, she needs my protection. Yet, I catch her glancing at my severed arm with pity in her eyes. She thinks of me as weak, injured, and any number of inadequacies. Feck. I will not stand for it! I will protect her, even if it costs me my life.

Miss Bell
Captain James makes no attempt to shield the darkness harbored in his eyes, like he wants me—needs me—to see what most people do. Ruthlessness. Turmoil. Devastation.
“Remember that the same hand I use to caress your delicate skin has been stained with the blood of my enemies,” he says, cupping my cheek. “Do not assume my affection for you is something others have experienced. Understood, Miss Bell?”
I understand. Hell, I am counting on it. Peter would rather see me dead than in the arms of another, and I have no intention of dying—especially not when Captain James makes me feel so alive.

The Never Ever Series is by far Sarah's best works. The first book Neverland Evermore will hook you but the second installment Forever Cursed will reel you in like no other. The continuation of Bell and Captain Hooks story is rife with danger and intrigue. There are so many players in the game, each with their own agenda.
Bell and the Captain will do anything to keep the other safe and alive. Not an easy thing to do on Neverland which is not the fun filled fantasy island we all knew as children. No this place is cursed, filled with evil men who can never age or die and creatures like mermaids who are out to fill their sea with dead men. Everyone is forced to make deals with their enemies in order to survive the war that is coming. Peter Pan wants Bell and he will do anything to have her. Captain Hook will not let her go without a fight. He hatches a plan to ally himself and Bell with the Monarch of the island Kensington and the mermaids.
Unfortunately it appears things may not go as planned as far as the mermaids are concerned. Their wiles are extremely dangerous to the male species, cursing them with madness and longing for a beautiful creature that will only lead them to a watery grave. This part of the story ends on a cliffhanger. Can Bell save Hook from these devilish sea creatures? Will she be able to save herself? Will they ever get off of Neverland? We will all be anxiously waiting for the third installment in the series to answer these questions for us. Please don't make us wait too long Sarah.

Forever Cursed is the second story in this dark and twisted fairy tale series. It goes along the premise of Peter Pan but with an intense desperation for vengeance. Captain James Hook and Miss Bell have come back to Neverland, a place where bad people are trapped. People Miss Bell brought to the island. Peter is absolutely obsessed with Miss Bell in a bad stalker-ish kind of way. Captain James is hurt as his hand has been cut off. But both are hell bent on protecting the other. Neverland is jam packed full of Bell’s past and everything seems to be creeping up on her. This is an insanely intense book. It’s full of passion, corruption, greed, and violence. This is about finding your true and perfect love and coming to terms as to how deep it runs in your heart and bones. These two are like “Bonnie and Clyde”. Better to be on their good side than on the bad side. I have a feeling Bell’s past is going to end up the bad side. This story is incredible!

I want just one day to live inside Sarah Pepper’s head! The vivid imagery that comes alive in all of her books just cannot be adequately told in a review! I’ve been completely enthralled with all of her books and it didn’t stop with Forever Cursed. It’s wrought with sexual tension, jealousy, greed, and an undying love. But most importantly there is no damsel in distress in need of saving. I mean she is in a pickle, but Mrs. Bell is strong and fierce and protective of her man!! In Finding Neverland I began the journey of rooting for a fairy and her captain and I was unable to stop myself from turning every page in this book to find out if my duo would be able to manage a happy ending. I will have to wait until book 3 to find out but I will be rooting for my dark magic fairy and her one handed beau. Sarah you are magical and someone better turn your books into movies or a tv series because I’ve played them out in my head and I’m blown away!

Forever Cursed by Sarah J. Pepper is book two in her Never Ever series. In this book we catch up with Miss Bell and Captain James. Bell has been reunited with James with the help of the mermaids but for a price. James is badly hurt still from his encounter with Michael onboard the Jolly Roger. James isn’t the only one who is badly hurt though. Bell still suffers from what Peter has stolen from her. Now both Bell and James are trapped on Neverland, but of course they are not alone. All the men that Bell and other fairies have condemned to that place are still there and looking for the opportunity to take their revenge on her for what she did to them. Bell still has the two precious mermaid tears but she holds on to them, because the decision on how to use them will not be an easy thing. Bell gets mixed up in all sorts of trouble as once again she takes from the mermaids and they seek to make her pay. They won’t be the only ones that Bell and James cross paths with while on the island as they seek to try and stay hidden so that they can recover. Soon it becomes apparent that somehow Bell is connecting with Peter in sleep and he is intent on reclaiming her.
Forever Cursed does a good job delving deeper into Miss Bell and Captain James’ story. The story mostly focuses and follows Miss Bell essentially making her the main character this time around. Captain James is badly hurt and she fears losing him. Yet she is hesitant to use the tears immediately in the hopes that he will begin to heal but the signs soon begin to point that that won’t be the case. Add in that the inhabitants of the island aren’t too thrilled with the return of Miss Bell. They hate her for what she has done in bringing them to that island. The men trapped there hate Bell with a passion but yet they also wish to possess her. There is so much going on in this story. Peter haunts Bell’s dreams yet he says it is her who reaches out to him.
This story does a good job answering some questions concerning the story but it still leaves me with some that I am finding to be most important to me. I want to know the back story to Bell and Peter. How was he created? What happened between them? There are some points in the story of where what is happening or has happened become blurred for me and it’s hard to really know what is going on or has happened. I love the tension and the drama in this story. Despite the fact that Bell ends up in several situations of where she’s in too deep she is never portrayed as a “damsel in distress.” She is a force to be reckoned with and makes sure that it is known to all who deal with her that she is not to be trifled with. The addition of new characters to this story helps keep it engaging and interesting.
I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this series. I really want to know what happens next. I really do love this twist on the Peter Pan story and how unique the author has created this world to be. There is so much darkness and this story is twisted just enough to keep you engaged without pushing you away. Definitely a must read for those who love twists on familiar fairy tales to make them fresh.
