- Reviewed in the United States on April 2, 2017What happens when you're young and one accident changes the course of your life? For Thomas, he's having a hard time believing he'll ever be normal again, that a woman could ever love him because he's not whole. He's also struggling to come to terms with the accident itself, and the way it changed his best friend.
But one day, Margot enters his life. she's a breath of fresh air, and much to his surprise, she enjoys his company. She has a little bit of an understanding about Thomas' predicament, and the more she is around him, the more she wants things to progress.
It's only a matter of time before Thomas' walls come down and he allows her into his life a hundred percent.
Thomas' mindset broke my heart. Fact of the matter is, it's the way many who are dubbed as *different* feel. He lost the use of his legs and he feels permanently damaged. I love Margot for accepting him just as he is and helps him to see that things aren't as bad as they seem. And boy, she has her work cut out for her, because Thomas goes out of his way to push her from his life because of how afraid he is to fall in love with someone who is smart, strong and beautiful. He was so young when things changed.
I loved watching these two grow together. The Depth of the Spirit is a beautiful story. The series title is a perfect description for the feelings in this story. You do not need to read the first one at all to understand what's going on, but my advice is to read it just because it's another amazing story by Linda.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 10, 2017Thomas is in a wheelchair because of a tragic car accident. His best friend's girlfriend was killed in that accident, and Dustin, the best friend is left ridden with guilt. Even though he was not at fault, he had been the one driving. The chair doesn't deter Margot. When she spies Thomas, she is bound and determined to make him hers. Everyone is skeptical about whether such a relationship can work. Everyone except Margot, that is. And possibly one other being? It's such a lovely, sweet story! I really enjoyed reading it. If you like feel-good stories, don't pass this up. I loved it!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2018Thomas has lost the use of his legs in a car accident as a teenager. He meets Margot on the anniversary of that tragedy which has scarred his friend Dustin who lost his girlfriend in the same accident. Margot is bubbly and pushy, determined to bring Thomas out of his shell even though she has her own difficulties; her brother Sam was a vet who was injured and eventually committed suicide.
This is a sweet romance. I found Thomas especially likable. He's gruff and distant at first but is gradually won over by Margot's persistence. Despite all the challenges, Thomas and Margot find a life together in this thought-provoking story.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 23, 2017I really enjoyed this story, even if the ending was wrapped up too perfectly. It’s well-paced, it has great dialogue and characters, a good amount of angst and a stubborn wounded hero, Thomas. The heroine, Margot, is a bit crazy with her determination (or obsession) to marry the hero and then have kids, but, somehow, I found that funny.
I also liked that we could discern an intelligent and common-sense author in the writing and handling of either trivial or serious matters, for instance the death of a very close youngster.
Now, I’m curious about Dustin, Thomas loyal best friend.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2017I do love Ms. Williams' stories. This one was just what I was looking for, a feel good uplifting romance. Thanks for a great read.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2017If you are looking for a soul-searching and heartwarming read, Linda Lee Williams provides it in her "Faith, Hope, and Love Series." Book One, The Depth of the Spirit, is Thomas and Margot's story. From the beginning, Margot sees beyond Thomas's wheelchair and desires a life with him. It takes her special blend of spunk and determination together with some heavenly matchmaking to convince Thomas of her love and sincerity. I really liked the depth of this story and wholeheartedly recommend it to you!
