Tenth Degree of the Paranormal Kindle Edition
Whether a hunch, intuition, or something more sinister, Barbara knew she had no choice. Self-deception was no longer an option—comfortable, but not an option. She knew each denial she’d ever made left a scar on her soul, each one more painful than the last.
An epic battle between good and evil pits a mother who struggles to deny her paranormal powers against a megalomaniac intent on world destruction in Brenda Stinnett’s riveting new novel, Tenth Degree of the Paranormal.
Barbara Stevens has always struggled with her inexplicable powers. Her unwillingness to acknowledge her pent-up abilities has not, however, stopped her young daughter, Tiffany, from exercising her own powers.
Recruited by a group intent on honing and harvesting these paranormal powers to create a super race, Barbara and Tiffany are soon kidnapped and held on an island off the coast of Russia.
Suspicion soon grows that Tiffany may, in fact, manifest the ten highest paranormal abilities of astral projection, aura reading, bio-energy transference, levitation, past life regression, precognition, sight-by-touch, spontaneous healing, telekinesis, and telepathy.
If proven true, Tiffany’s abilities will trigger an opening to the gates of hell. But can this descent into evil be stopped in time?

- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2014Many of us are fascinated by the idea of paranormal abilities, which is why Brenda Stinnett will always have an audience. The presence of extraordinary powers being enhanced in symbiosis as well as being increased as the "psychic" genes are passed down from generation to generation, is a unique idea.
Twelve-year-old Tiffany, the child psychic, is suddenly aware of many phenomena about which normal kids are clueless: telepathy, telekinesis, aura reading, astral travel, past life regression, to mention a few. The development of her psychic abilities is facilitated by training from Dr. K, but Dr. K's motives are not pure. Tsk Tsk Tsk. Someone more powerful than he is needed to handle him and to prevent the misuse of power for evil. Who could that be?
Barbara is caught up in the drama and intrigue with her daughter, her daughter's father, Russell, and a former life betrayer, Andre'. She is conflicted by her own questions about the power she inherited from her mother and the challenges it brings. Being the one who passed her genes on to Tiffany, Barbara wants, desperately, to have her daughter be just a "normal" preteen.
Tiffany's experiences with spontaneous past life regression, along with her other abilities, may have taught her "that's not the way life is supposed to work" (p 214) in answer to her mother's comment, "I wish I could fix everything for you." She has discovered that life holds challenges for every living being.
I can't help thinking the number 144 (people who have attained ten powers), being selected as the point where the powers reach their peak, must be related to the 144,000 in Revelations. This peak point seems related to the "tipping point" that Malcolm Gladwell talks about, which is the point of critical mass where important change can occur after a substantial buildup. Ten psychic gifts in the same person would be a dynamic combination. . . but enough to "open up the abyss" and let all hell run wild? Some believe there is something to "the key to open the abyss" alluded to in Revelations 9. Who knows what that key really is? Could it be a group of psychically attuned people, working together to bring about a desired result? We can speculate about what the author of Revelations meant.
Herein lies the beauty of fiction writing; one can totally suspend belief for a while and allow imagination to create a suspenseful, intriguing, adventurous, romantic story with a heart-warming helping of human emotion. Brenda Stinnett has accomplished this!
Escape into another realm for a while with the Tenth Degree of the Paranormal.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 24, 2014Another great read by Brenda Stinnett. For three generations paranormal powers are passed down to the women, and the mother of each female child must make their husband and child aware of their child's powers and the importance of them. It's quite a process, and amazing how the husband who has no paranormal powers understands his wife and daughter's power, and he remains by their side regardless of their process to reach the Tenth Degree. This is a fast paced read, and sometimes surprising twists and turns. Like I said before, the author Brenda Stinnett has quite an imagination, and keeps the reader entertained.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 8, 2014Ordinarily, I'm not a reader of paranormal, but Brenda Stinnett takes you along with Tenth Degree of the Paranormal so that you're entertained, as well as surprised by the twists and turns in the story. I enjoyed The King's Vampire by Stinnett, and she once again formulated interesting concepts of the continuous battle between the forces of good and evil, taking paranormal down unique pathways. Tenth Degree of the Paranormal is a book definitely worth reading.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 24, 2014The Tenth Degree of the Paranormal is a fast paced, easy read, and if you don't believe in anything paranormal, or the swells between good and evil, you will after reading this. Mother, fighting her abilities, and daughter trying to find her way with all the powers she possess, they both pit evil against good. I highly recommend Ms. Stinnett's' book. Well written, suspenseful, you won't want to put it down.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 18, 2015Brenda Stinnett's Novel "Tenth Degree of Paranormal" is masterfully written. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. The characters are well developed and they draw you into their lives. This is a must read!! Once you start reading you will definitely stay for a "SPELL".
- Reviewed in the United States on June 23, 2014Highly entertaining. I spent nights up too late because I couldn't put the book down. A satisfying ending as well!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 8, 2014Some believe it is true that there’s a key to opening the abyss. What if the code to that key is discovered through acquiring paranormal powers to the tenth degree? That is what is suggested in Brenda Stinnett's latest novel, Tenth Degree of the Paranormal. Barbara and her daughter Tiffany are kidnapped by a Russian rogue group who hope to harness Tiffany's paranormal powers to create a super race. Stinnett takes you on a suspenseful journey that starts in Northern California, travels to Russia, and winds up in a small village in France. It's a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat and constantly surprised by what happens next. This is a great read.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 17, 2014An original, fast-paced adventure, "Tenth Degree of the Paranormal" hooks you from the start. At its heart, this is a love story, but not of the normal variety. The main character, Barbara, possesses certain supernatural gifts, gifts she has spent a lifetime repressing. She discovers that her daughter, Tiffany, has inherited these same gifts, and while Barbara is determined to keep Tiffany from developing them further, there are dark, powerful forces bent on using Tiffany and her abilities to their advantage. The end result is a suspenseful thrill for the reader and one I would highly recommend.
