All we can do now is let it burn.

Thirteen years later, nightmares of that burning house still haunt Sara. She has spent her life trying to heal while hoping her childhood friend was still alive.
Sara returns home, and it seems fate works against all odds as Sara finds herself face-to-face with her never forgotten friend, though now much more grown, handsome, and arrogant.

Jarroth knows there are secrets left hanging between them. The truth of the night of the fire, why it happened, and not only who, but what he was, may well be what finally severes his ties with Sara. This was a wonderful, fast paced and highly intriguing tale that I just fell in love with! Ms. Rister is entirely capable of taking old tropes and making them new, breathing fresh, unique breath into them.
The author is more than skilled in weaving suspense, action and mystery in with the general overall romantic theme, taking each nuanced layer and creating something memorable, entertaining.

I found the characters to be vividly written, jumping off the page and grabbing your attention with pithy dialogue, relatable actions and understandable reactions. Ms. Rister's admirable way with words is powerful enough that you're not simply reading a story, you're living it.

Kudos and 5 👑👑👑👑👑's to the author on a job well done!

I must say for a debut novel, Crystal Rister did a splendid job! I couldn’t put the book down! There are many Werewolf/Vampire books out there today and they won’t stop coming, but when you can put originality to it and spin it so that its not the same as all the others you have something great!

After a tragic incident that leaves Sara alone and without a family for many years moving from place to place she ends up at a bar back in the state of Kentucky, the state she once called home. However, now she is grown and taking care of herself although still experiencing nightmares of that horrible night and wondering why Jarroth, a boy she grew up with never came for him as he promised he would. That same night at the bar Sara is attacked by vicious men and rescued by a stranger. When she comes to and calms down a bit this stranger turns out not to be a stranger at all, but the boy she has thought to be dead all these years, Jarroth. However, Jarroth is no longer a boy, but a very sexy and strong man! Not only that, but he isn’t quite human and Sara soon finds out that the myths about Werewolves and Vampires are indeed real.

Loved, loved, loved the chemistry between Jarroth and Sara. I love how he said he was going to wait for her to answer before they went any further than simply kissing or such, but still pushed her at the same time. I love the protectiveness he has over her and being that he thought she was dead all these years and then finding her and not wanting to every let her go is just….ugh..can we say swoon!

Having been on her own pretty much since she was about twelve she is very independent, but can recognize when she needs help or protecting. At the same time she trys to act as if she doesn’t know if she can be with Jarroth and be his mate and perhaps make that commitment, but deep down inside she knows that it feels right! Once she comes to that conclusion she gives in especially after another run in with those same vicious men that attacked her the night before. This gives her the opportunity to see all of Jarroth and what he is capable of and the he would indeed lay his life down in order to protect her.

Yes the book leaves you hanging in the worst way, but cliffhangers aren’t always bad if they make you want to continue you on with the next book! Even if you don’t have a great relationship with cliffhangers, I would still recommend this for you to read. So much sexiness and some action and some twist and turns you won’t see coming!

When I first picked up this novella, I wasn't sure what to expect. I love the paranormal genre, and was dubious that there could be anything new out there.
Crystal not only found a new and exciting way to tell us about vampires and werewolves, she did so while weaving a magical web of intrigue, action and suspense on top of the romance.
The background is intertwined into the story line, aiding the reader in understanding the characters, while at the same time providing much needed information into their psyches.
Jarroth and Sara are complex and vibrant characters that leap off the page, enacting the plot in your mind with intensity. You can feel the heat of the flames as Sara's childhood home burns; the sadness and loneliness of being alone; you can hear the mournful cries, all you need to do is listen. Listen to the words as they dance across the page, taking you into Sara and Jarroth's world.
Just be prepared....it does not end as you would expect. But it does leave you wanting, craving, hungering for more.

As a first book from a new author this was a hit. I would have rated it 4.5 out of 5 stars but choose 5 because 4 would have simply been too low.
The story was fairly well thought out and rolled along at a nice steady pace not giving much the reader time to get bored. A lot of thought and research went into certain aspects of the story which is always great to see, though unless seen with a trained eye one might not realize it or grasp it. Mostly I speak of the actual nature and history of druids (in real life lore) and the like. The characters were well balanced for the most part and played off the story and their surroundings much to how you would expect someone too.
I am interested to see where book 2 takes the story and I see good things on the rise for this author.

I am a big paranormal fan so I jumped at the chance to read this novella. This is a great debut for Crystal. I loved the characters, and the plot. The story was easy to follow and then had a huge surprise!!! I am eagerly waiting for book two, and by eager I do mean sitting here biting my nails!!! If you are into steamy paranormal romance you seriously need to read this book!!!! Not for anyone under the age of 18 because it does have some explicit language and a pretty steamy sex scene!!!!! Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

When i started reading this i thought oh this is really familiar i've read something like this before,i have to admit that it was some of the first books i got when my hubby bought me my kindle, and to start with i didn't realise what a review could do for a book and the author.
I loved this book and was glad to reaquaint myself with it.
Running from her past and having to grow up quickly with no family is hard on a young girl moving from place to place hoping that she will find the young man that used to live with her and her family before a fire killed both of her parents.
Jarroth has been looking for Sara for years and when he finally finds her she is being attacked by vampires and the life she knew was totally turned on its head, can a wolf and his mate live in peace together??
    I recommend this book.
