- Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2018This is my second time reading this delightful book and I can hardly believe I never reviewed it before. After dumping her unfaithful fiancé, Amy decides to go ahead with the planned honeymoon to Italy in the company of a travel buddy, Mallory. Mallory is still in a funk from a divorce from someone who had proven everything about them was a lie. Mallory’s cousin Chad has made a bet and suddenly this trip is on. No problem...except that Amy’s travel buddy turns out to be a very attractive super sexy Southern man... and all the rooms she has booked have twin beds. Take a lovely trip to Italy and join these two as they discover just how much fun can be had when one lets their hair down and just lets go and enjoys life as it unfolds. Most highly recommend.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 14, 2016Have you ever bought a book because of the title? I did and I should have known better even though the premise was good. A Chicago English teacher is days away from her wedding when she “catches” her coach fiancé in the shower with another coach. The wedding is cancelled but she can’t cancel the honeymoon trip to Italy, so she is encouraged to get a travel chum to share expenses. Though she doesn’t know it, the travel chum is a man from Savannah, named Mallory, who goes on the trip as a bet with his cousin. Sounds good doesn’t it?
The beginning of the book was good. That’s where it ended. I grew up in Charleston and have been to Savannah many times over the years. The story was just ruined by the portrayal of the southern hero’s dialogue. No one talks like that. Maybe our speech pattern is a little slower, but the dialogue in the story was appalling. Following are some examples:
The hero is on the plane waiting on the drink cart and says,” I am thirsty as a June bug in July. Yes, Ma’am I most certainly am.”
Speaking to Amy, the heroine, “Miss, I just do wonder could you by any chance be Amy.”
Another sentence, “Amy, ah am so sorry if this isn’t what you’d planned.”
Later on he says, ”You’re fine. Yes you most certainly are.”
Then the similes start. A simile always has “as or like” linking to unrelated phrases. That’s not to say they aren't perfectly okay. They can make reading more pleasurable if they aren’t used in almost every paragraph. But they became very distracting to me.
In the hero’s point of view: The high school teacher was alarmed as Scarlett when she heard Atlanta was burning. Then: Give the poor woman a berth as wide as the marshes that cushioned Savannah from coastal storms. And..women take control of a bathroom as if they were Sherman marching through Georgia. Further..His gaze pulled away from her like sticky taffy.
The story is not all bad. After all it is a romance. The author is very good at descriptions of settings and the reader will feel like they have been to Italy. I would have enjoyed the story if the speech of the southern hero had not been so insulting and there hadn’t been so many distracting similes.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 17, 2019Amy finds her fiancé, Jason, in the school’s shower with the P.E. Teacher. The wedding may be off, but she’s still going on her honeymoon, lol. With the help of Travel Chums, she gets Mallory as her travel companion. Imagine her surprise when they meetin the plane and she learns Mallory is a man. A very hot man. Grab your copy of this terrific book about Amy and Mallory’s trip through Italy.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2020This is my first read from this author and I have added her to my favorites. She had a unique take on a love story and she had a good sense of romance and humor. Loved the fact that Mom and Auntie were fun and active and involved.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 2014I thought it was sweet that her sister and mother showed up on her canceled honeymoon. It was also nice that they discreetly peaced out at the right moments once they saw that Amy had found a Travel Buddy - even better that the Travel Buddy was a man. Perfect way to repair said canceled honeymoon! I've been to Italy so it was easy to believe how the artwork there would inspire a love story to start percolating. Who wouldn't love for that to happen?
- Reviewed in the United States on March 12, 2019Any discovered her Fiancé had been cheating on her before the wedding. She cancelled the wedding and signed up for a travel chum on the Internet, and what a travel chum Mallory was. He signed up on a bet with his cousin. The Italian trip was amazing. Loved it.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2019Even though the story starts with a cheating fiancé, the rest of the story is pretty mellow. It seems it's crawling at times. It's not a book that will keep you up all night, nevertheless it's a sweet story of two people who found love in Italy.

I would give this book 3.5 stars! It's a nice, enjoyable read but unfortunately not as good as I would've liked, especially based on the reviews.
The premise is good and there's lots of fun. However, I just found that as a romance it needed more "oomph". The GMC wasn't strong enough, especially for the hero. Why did he agree to the trip? (car is not a good enough reason) And what happened at the end. When one character is deceiving another, there has to be good reasons so the reader will feel empathy and understand. I didn't get that here.
I feel that if the writer had tightened up her GMC then this book could've been great. The ending was a little wishy-washy, predictable and boring when it had the potential to be so much better.
The book is a nice read, I just didn't love it.
