How far would you go to save your best friend from a fate worse than death? Olivia Townsend is willing to do whatever it takes to save Lilly from just such a fate.

The year is 1804. Lady Olivia Sophia Allen Townsend has just turned 20 years old. She is beautiful, well-educated and considered by some in polite society to be far too eccentric for her own good. When Olivia was younger, she was very open about her gift of being able to see spirits. But the shunning by her peers has caused her to turn her back on those who need her the most - spirits caught between two worlds. That is until her best friend Lilly Collins comes to her in the middle of the night and asks for her help. Lilly can't remember what happened to her and finds herself in need of Olivia's unique gifts.

Olivia's younger sister, Coco, is also gifted with a unique set of skills - she can touch someone and know things about them that they would sometimes prefer to keep hidden. Together, the sisters set off on a sea voyage, from Ireland to America, intent on solving the mystery of Lilly's untimely death.

Brody and Quinton Beaumont, fine-looking, eligible, southern American gentlemen, and heirs to a successful cotton empire, are twins hiding a deep dark secret. Their mother, Annabelle Beaumont, died eight years earlier on the night of their annual birthday winter ball, yet she continues to rule over their plantation home with an iron fist.

Olivia, drawn to no man, feels suddenly akin to Brody Beaumont, but she must figure out if she can trust him, and if he or his brother had anything to do with Lilly's death.

Diane Merrill Wigginton, born in Riverside, California, in 1963, grew up in

the vibrant community of Mira Mesa, San Diego. From a young age,

Diane developed a deep passion for storytelling, inspired by the

adventures of her childhood in the 1970s and early 1980s.

Spending summers on her grandparents' ranch in Idaho, Diane learned the value of

animals, nature, and storytelling that would shape her future writing career.

After marrying her husband, David, in 1998, Diane and her family lived in Encinitas before moving to Herald,

California in 2001. They embraced a rural lifestyle on a 5 ½-acre ranch, raising six children.

Diane’s love for writing never waned, but raising a family and working full-time kept her

literary ambitions on hold. However, in her 50s, Diane decided to pursue

her dream of becoming a published author. It was then that she created

Angelina's Secret, the first book in her critically acclaimed Jeweled

Dagger Series. Since then, Diane has published five novels, including her first children’s

book, The Secret of One-Eyed Cogburn, The Dreaded Pirate Captain.

Diane’s work spans multiple genres, from historical romance and

suspense to children's fiction, and she has earned a prestigious collection

of awards that reflect her remarkable storytelling ability. She has won

accolades such as the Benjamin Franklin Digital Award, Reader's Favorite 1st Place Historical Fiction Award,

and numerous awards for A Compromising Position.

In 2017, after retiring from her "9 to 5" job, Diane and her husband moved to Kalispell, Montana, where they now enjoy a life

filled with adventure, hiking, and exploration in the stunning wilderness around Glacier National Park.

Diane continues to write full-time, bringing to life the rich characters and intricate stories that captivate her readers.

Diane’s creative spirit is fueled by her deep appreciation for family and her love for storytelling.

Now a proud grandmother to eleven grandchildren, Diane is living her dream and continues

to inspire readers with her heartfelt and adventurous tales.

Wigginton pens a great, no scratch that, an amazing story with Olivia's Promise. I was captivated by this story from the moment I read the first few words. Fans of historical romance will definitely not be disappointed, as this story fits not only within the genre, but also as being third in this Jeweled Dagger series. Olivia states from the beginning, "I grew up knowing that I was different from other children and why I was born this way, but it didn’t make the shunning by the other girls my age any easier." It brings to light that shunning happened at any era, at any age, and this story brings to light the power of Olivia's gift. She is on a journey to find out what happened to her friend. It's another amazing story, with grand characters that may relate or don't relate to the existing culture of place and time, but fit in nonetheless. I look forward to seeing what more this author can offer the readers.

Another fun book continuing the story, this time focusing on the strange talents of the heroine, who can see spirits. Unfortunately the book again has laughable errors of grammar and spelling. The characters are all charming and evil comes straight out of Satan's realm

I did not like the book. The main character was temperamental and argumentative one minute and a confident strong woman the next. I do not think the author read this book after she finished writing.

This is my favourite book of the series. I love how the psychic powers have gotten stronger over three generations. Olivia and her sister Coco are a force to be reckon with. The author gripped me into the pages reliving the intense memories of Olivia's life. Hetty Elliott was brillant in the narration.

    Oliva's Promise
    Jeweled Dagger series, Book 3
    Diane Merrill Wigginton, author

It's always such a pleasure to come back to this series. And this one was the best story yet. I simply fell in love with Olivia and her quest to help her long lost friend find peace. What an adventure; and her entire family joined her on her quest across the big pond from Ireland to America.

The characters were written with such vitality and grit. I loved the chemistry between Olivia and Brody.

The storyline offered the reader a chance to escape into a world full of excitement and bewitching escapades. I highly recommend this series.

Olivia’s Promise by Diane Merrill Wigginton, is yet another awesome book by this author. I read it very quickly – it was like eating good ice cream, I enjoyed it that much. This is book 3 in the Jeweled Dagger historical romance series. My great grandmother was from Ireland and she had a special gift so it made this story more real to me. Olivia, the main character in the book, also has such a gift, one which comes with intense emotions and hard choices to be made. Her sister, Coco, has a different gift, but the girls work well together to find the truth. It is a complicated journey from Ireland to New York City and finally to an estate in the southern part of the USA. I love this family, the characters are so complex and wonderful.
    Synopsis:
Olivia’s best friend suddenly goes missing and Olivia finds herself facing pure evil for the first time as she ventures into the dimensions of the supernatural and abnormal. The story is intense, emotional and also humorous in parts. These books have made me laugh-out-loud because they paralleled certain situations among my own family members.
Olivia’s Promise is an excellent read, very hard to put down. I gave it Five Stars!

I experienced some frustration with this book but there was also plenty to like about it. First and foremost, I did not ever grasp a real picture of what these characters may have looked like, and that irks me! The author spent more time describing their clothing and surroundings than their person. I didn't know how old they were either. I like to imagine I know the characters but its almost impossible without being able to picture them! I liked that the banter between the characters was often quite funny and warm. I laughed quite often with their dialogue and at other times cried due to their circumstances. There were many times that I determined that if the story did not advance and move forward more quickly, by the next chapter for example, I would stop reading this book, yet, it managed to hold my interest until I finished it. I'm planning to read another book by the same author but begrudgingly.
