I WILL DEFINITELY BE BUYING THE SECOND BOOK!!!
5 Stars
I WILL DEFINITELY BE BUYING THE SECOND BOOK!!!
I hate saying this but I must, 'I was given this book as a gift in exchange for an honest review.' "Honestly" I would have done a review for this book anyway because it really was that good. The storyline was very believable considering the world we live in today. The characters were all well thought out. I especially like that the author made his main female characters strong women, instead of wimpy, subservient ones. The editing was amazing. These days you can't say enough about editing. The author definitely has a talent, can't wait for the second book. Now off to rob my son for the money he still owes me, I WILL GET THAT COMPLETE TRIOLOGY!!! Hell, I'm excited to see what else this author can write. Looking forward to it...

2/7, NYC. 8:01 EST. Cynthia “Cyn” Reveal (wife/mother), Steve Montrose (Cyn’s husband/father), & Melissa (Cyn/Steve’s 3 month-daughter) had no clue what was about to happen to them or anyone else for that matter.
NV. Everon Student (Franklin’s stepbrother, solar power farm owner), was showing off his 2 investments to Andréa Buer.
She was almost too much for him to handle.
Hunt William (Williams Power production owner) wanted to own the solar power.
Something happened to the Lear jet Everon & Andréa were aboard. It was plummeting toward the earth.
It leveled off & they survived.
Ash Cave, OH. Reverend Franklin Reveal (Everon’s stepbrother, retired US Army Special Forces: 75th. Ranger Regiment) was out rappelling a mountain.

President Wall had just issued Presidential Executive Order 16-176.
Colonel Devers Broadmore delivered the message to the American PPL.
Colonel Bob Marsh had his orders also.
Nathan King had bought the Empire State building for what it was worth.
Mr. Chuck Farndike (regional Red Cross blood coordinator) were doing their best to help massive amounts of PPL.
Ahmad Hashim was puking up some horrible looking stuff.
Colonel Marsh was reporting back to General Anders about the radiation level.
How many miles would the fallout travel?

I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written thriller book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great thriller movie, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.

This is not a stand-alone book, in that it is the first in a series. At the bottom of the book description, it states there is a book 2. Anyway, that aside, I found this well-written book to be engaging and intense. The action is non-stop. After a nuclear blast, two step-brothers go right into the destruction to find their sister along with her husband and small child. Danger is all around them as they struggle with near-insurmountable obstacles. I tried reading this at night but found myself staying awake to see what happens next. It's that good. Very suspenseful. I could picture the scenes in my mind like watching an internal movie. In fact, I think it would make an excellent movie. It does close on a bit of a cliffhanger but still it's a big story in and of itself.

Okay, Loss of Reason. The blurb is “One of the most disturbing stories you’ll ever read.” I’m not sure why this book totes that tagline. I really didn’t find anything disturbing at all about it. It is a straightforward disaster book, that doesn’t exactly end. There are a bunch of neat setups for the sequel, but you gotta finish the first book in a way that doesn’t make me angry.

Loss of Reason doesn’t do this. And it’s not even a cliffhanger. The book just ends with nothing resolved, and it leaves a sour taste in my mouth. It’s as if the rest of the story got lost somewhere… Oh, here it is: Search for Reason. I’m at a loss as to why book one is 288 pages, and book two is 656 pages. The author states that this story took 15 years to write, and I presume split up into the different “books.”

Since book one ends without any conclusion to anything, why not break book two into two books? Why not smoosh the two back together and divide them somewhere in the 450-page range? I will say that I loved the brothers. I felt that they were well written. I also found the situation they were in believable, and the emotions conveyed in the writing to be completely within my empathy. I liked all the supporting characters, although a few of the military figures were comically clichéd.

I’d be interested in reading the rest of this story, but not if it ends on another marketing ploy, er, I mean cliffhanger. The lack of an ending of any kind has turned this from an easy four-star read to an average three-star read.

Loss of Reason is a well crafted thriller. And I would imagine that fans of this genre will love sinking their teeth into this one! This is my first time reading this author and I must say I was very impressed.

The story had every element a good story should have. An exciting plot, attention to detail, but best of all fleshed out, well-written and well-rounded character development. There’s an abundance of well illustrated scenes that really make you feel like you are right there in the story, and that's something I really look for in a good book.

This captivating and commendable work had me immersed from the beginning. The story flows from scene to scene with ease, and the author shows exceptional skill when it comes to storytelling. There are twists and turns in this page turner that will take the reader on a gripping journey!

It’s one of those stories that come along once in awhile that makes you want to read it non-stop until you get to the end. I’m giving nothing further away here. And this, I hope, will only add to the mystery and enjoyment for the reader!

I’ll certainly be looking forward to reading more from Miles A. Maxwell in the future! I would definitely recommend this book! Five stars from me.

Thoroughly enjoyable book about the aftermath of nuclear bombs; it reads like watching a movie and I found it totally compelling. This is very topical in the current climate of the world nuclear threats that makes it all the more real. This book was so exciting I had to remember to breathe as I read it! I’m sure the technical content was either well researched or well-known to the author – way over my head nonetheless. If this hasn’t already been made into a film it ought to be. Love a good cliff-hanger and yes I did get the next one! Pat McDonald British Crime author.

A bit confusing at the start but the story pulls you in. Too much technical detail for me, but interesting characters and a dramatic and suspenseful situation. Kind of scary to think about. A good read!

I enjoyed it, but found the technical details a bit too long and boring. Also, the baby's hair changes colour between the first book and the preview for the second 🤔
