Run, Laney, run. That’s what Mama said she should do if something really bad happened. Well, what just happened is worse than Mama could have imagined. Now Laney, covered in blood and in a seizure of terror, is on the run from the law.
Assuming the identity of a long dead infant, Laney finds safety and builds a near perfect new life. Safe and near perfect, that is, until three people from the past show up looking for revenge, redemption and love.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
A records page from my mother's old Bible after she passed away. The information recorded there revealed that family history we had always believed to be true was not.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
This is not an easy question. The story and the characters are kind of like a sphere within a sphere – inseparable. Or maybe like nesting Russian dolls. As the layers of the story peel back, the characters reveal themselves. Or maybe the story unfolds as the characters reveal themselves. It's complicated to explain but clear in my mind.
The frantic honking of a car horn and the screams of people and horses shattered the quiet afternoon like an exploding cannon ball. There was one moment of complete silence then shouting and Mattie could see people running. She was suddenly filled with a cold, dark, dread. Calvin. Calvin! A familiar fist closed around her chest and squeezed the air out of her lungs. Wheezing and gasping, she clutched Laney’s hand and broke into a run. Don’t think about breathing. Get to Calvin.
