A Human’s Touch is a futuristic, sci-fi, dystopian novella. It is set in the year 3014 and centres around Randy Kempton’s struggles to protect his two siblings after his parents’ disappearance. Without giving too much away, the world is facing an overpopulation crisis, Randy’s parents attempted to design a solution through their Sygrowth synthetics. You’ll have to read my story to find out more.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
The concept for this book came to me years ago. I believe at the time there was a Channel 4 documentary circulating about designer babies (late 2000s). This entailed affluent parents discussing how they could genetically engineer their child's appearance in the womb, such as change their eye or hair colour.
From this, I thought about the implications of having synthetic babies – something you could completely manufacture. Many plot writing and brainstorming sessions later, and fast forward to multiple drafts and rewrites, and writer's block which delayed this project for a ridiculously long time, and A Human's Touch was finally crafted.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
This is a tricky question for authors. Like with the whole process of writing, it is something we do on a regular basis. Our brains are trained to invent things. I don't have specific origin stories for my characters. They are not inspired by or based off real people (although they may naturally embody things I have experienced/seen), so, for a bit of fun, I'll let each of my main characters speak for themselves.
Randy Kempton: I am a dark cup of coffee. Insomnia and paranoia. I live for my family.
Zeno Kempton: To wind my big brother up and provide comic relief. Our story is heavy. Our world is brutal. Not all of us survive.
Eden Kempton: I'll let you humans in on a secret, this is actually my story. I wish I could have done more…
Chase and Indie Kempton: (Message missing)
Kelly: I live for my baby Tegan.
Janice and Damian Apollo: All we wanted was to do the right thing.
Synthia Apollo: I live for my little sister, Dexteria. I wish she would accept me.
Dexteria Apollo: The woman who wrote us says I'm Veruca Salt, who even is that?
Eden: Apologies, we are not allowed to publish excerpts due to Amazon's rules. Instead, we take this opportunity to thank you for reading this post.
