What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
After suffering for 48 years of symptoms related to sexual child abuse and domestic violence with failed therapies, discovered one that worked. Although no therapy is a miracle cure, NLP worked in removing the emotional aspects of painful memories. Finding this success, left in-home private duty and sought out training and becoming Board Certified in NLP with the deep desire to help others experience the same freedom and the reason for writing this bok=ok.
Psychology taught me that every experience I have in the natural world is recorded in my mind. The brain memorizes experiences that occur frequently, and they become automatic habits. However, an experience doesn’t need to happen several times for the brain to store it. A life-changing experience such as trauma is recorded in the
brain and stored in its archives. Some survivors of trauma can remember the traumatic incident through mental flashbacks. In contrast, others develop coping behaviors like dissociation, which pushes down the memory until they become detached from it. It almost feels like it didn’t happen to them or didn’t happen at all. Dissociation is only one of the behaviors that develop after trauma, although many arise and are all recorded in the brain.
So far, you can see that nothing gets past your mind, whether it’s a single negative thought or a single traumatic event. Healing the mental body becomes an important step in letting go of trauma because all of your behaviors, attitudes, personality, beliefs, values, and memory of the past is recorded in your mind. A traumatic incident can easily change your mental perspective and outlook on life, making you feel hopeless and trapped in a world of fear. However, when you recognize that your thoughts and perspective on life can be adjusted, you can begin the process of reversing your beliefs and mental conclusions, choosing new ones that are empowering and help you heal.
This book is about helping you reclaim control over your mind, just as the author did, and allowing you to see that your thoughts and feelings are simply suggestions. If you are not happy with a suggestion, you can propose one that’s radically different from what you are used to. For instance, you can choose not to let your future be defined by your past. By coming to a place of acceptance about your past and choosing to think and live differently in the present moment, you can create the kind of life you have always dreamt of living.
