S. Menduke is a writer currently residing in Central Florida.
What inspires you to write?
I am constantly daydreaming. If I over hear a snippet of a conversation I will make up an entire back story within a few minutes. Writing, developing stories, helps get these things out of my head. Like cleaning house.
Tell us about your writing process.
My writing process involves a lot of bargaining. I tell myself to write x amount of words and then I can have a cookie or 22…Also, headphones piping jazz into my brain.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I play scenes out in my head constantly. Riding a bike, driving, working, I’m always picturing my characters and what they are doing so when I finally bribe myself with enough baked-goods to actually sit down and start typing I know these people well. I know exactly how they will react in a particular situation, how they feel etc..
What advice would you give other writers?
Write. It doesn’t matter if anyone else thinks it is good… just write.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
There was no way I was going to write tons of query letters only to end up in a rejected pile. I am way to lazy to put myself out like that. I would much rather beg the public directly to read me. If the public hates me fine, but at least I’m out here throwing my words at the world.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I don’t.
