Hyde Johnson is an erotic audiobook performer. A ‘Read By’ byline is too plain, and ‘Narrated By’ still doesn’t capture what he does. His livelihood is his passion. Performance art, the air he breathes.
Which translates to a recluse who is a hot mess.
He’s not eating right, he’s drinking more, and his family’s meddling is making it harder to stay on task.
Being designated the guardian of her young niece Tina is the last thing Gypsy Hartford expected.
But when the State of South Carolina unceremoniously puts Tina in her care, Gypsy
accepts it’s time to grow up and stop floating from town to town. Where does she start when she has no degree, no real friends, and no family besides Tina?
A want ad could be the answer to both their conundrums. Or it might open a whole new can of
worms. Especially when you throw in a crazed author with an unhealthy obsession for her narrator.
WANTED:
Someone to run errands, cook, and handle minor cleaning. Must be quiet and self-starting as I work nights and sleep during the day. Compensation
negotiable, including transportation and board. Discretion a MUST.
Only serious inquiries please.

2020 "Best Book We've Read All Year" Finalist

“Some of the best stories have the simplest of setups: man, woman, interloper. But a simple setup is all a good author needs. R. E. Hargrave is a good author - a very good one - and if this is your first time discovering her then you're in for a treat.

We found Wanted to be a comforting romance story with likeable lead characters, and interesting secondary characters. It was an easy read; we read it on a Thursday, but something about the book made it feel like a Saturday. Who can ask for more than that?” ~ReadFREEly

Hyde Johnson is hot, but he's a mess - a hot mess. And it's probably the fact that Gypsy's life is something of a reflection of his that they are drawn to each other. They fall into each other's arms quickly, but then trouble arrives... We found Wanted to be a comforting romance story with likable lead characters, and interesting secondary characters. ☆★☆ "Most readers know [R.E. Hargrave] for her scorching hot erotica stories, but
Wanted isn't one of them. It's a wonderfully woven story about a couple forced together despite their complete opposites and finding they have far more in common than they first thought." ~M.B. Feeney, author☆★☆"This story was a pleasant surprise for me. What happens when you force a recluse audio narrator and a free spirit together? You have to read to find out what happens next between Hyde and Gypsy. An emotional story with characters dealing with some heavy baggage that you can't turn away from." ~Within The Pages Book Blog☆★☆"While this story is short, it is packed full of emotions. Redemption, assessing one's self worth, learning to trust, letting go of the past and above all - accepting love." ~Jennifer Theriot, USA Today bestselling author

Domestic engineer. Dreamer. And quite possibly certifiable.

Believing every story can shine bright with a bit of tenacious tough love, R.E. Hargrave is thorough and to the point. An international bestselling author, she takes storytelling and manuscript polishing seriously, working with her authors and on her own creations to ensure they come to life, crawling from the pages and into the reader’s souls.

Hargrave lives on the outskirts of Dallas, TX and is married to her high school sweetheart; together they are raising three children. A native 'mutt,' she has lived in New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Alabama, Texas, and California. She is fond of setting her stories—which range from the sweet to the paranormal, to the erotic and horrific—on location in South Carolina and Texas.

Hargrave is best known for her erotic BDSM series, The Divine Trilogy. The final book in the trilogy, Surreal, was a 2015 Golden Flogger Award Finalist with BDSM Writer’s Con. In 2017, her short novella Brooklyn Blues was also a GFAFinalist.

I could jump right in and say that even though I know I should, "I never write reviews”... Honestly, I write them only when something either impresses me or makes me cringe. This one impressed me... This story was an absolute breath of fresh air. First of all, the writing is excellent... I didn’t notice any glaring typos or grammatical errors. That by itself gives it a 3 star rating compared to what I’ve been reading. I didn't have to continually be pulled out of the story because of grammatical mistakes, poor word usage or a plethora of ill placed commas. Next, and probably my favorite thing... is the story is sweet and believable. You genuinely like the characters in the story and you are rooting for them. Gypsy is well developed and strong female without being a curse word laden witch. Can you say refreshing? She is a little lost on her path in life but genuine and nice. I would actually love to be Gypsy’s friend. Her outlook on life is lightness and good. Not to say she doesn't have struggles, because she does... oh does she ever, but she doesn't have a "woe is me. Poor me... I'm so pitiful" world view. Hyde has been hurt and is struggling with his demons but he isn't so broken that he is some all around a-hole. He is thoughtful and introspective and cares about his family and about Gypsy. Likable, relatable characters; that bumped it up to 4 stars... and the rest is just because I couldn’t put it down... This is worth every penny and worth the evening it took me to read it.

Hyde is a voice actor, who lives in his childhood home that he has renovated. His studio is in his home and he doesn’t leave...ever. His parents were murdered in their home, the one he lives in now, when he was in college.. he feels guilty because he knows that if he has been home,he would have been able to save them.

Gypsy has been a wanderer since she was 18 years old, never staying anywhere permanently. Now she has custody of Tina, her sisters daughter. She needs to stay put for Tina’s sake. Gypsy takes a job as Hyde’s housekeeper. She likes him, Tina likes him, the arrangement appears to be working.

Situations arise that cause Gypsy’s flight instinct to kick in.... and she does just that.

What happens? I promise you, that reading this book will not only give you the answer to this question, but, oh, so much more! R.E. Hargrave is a fantastic writer and this book is no exception. There is so much heart in this story! For me, it was a dive right in and don’t stop till you’re done kind of story! And that’s just what I did! Hyde caught me from the first pages of it, and his determination and fight kept me captivated!

Wanted by R.E. Hargrave is the book that I have read by this author and it will not be the last. Gypsy is a free spirited person who has her wings clipped by a personal tragedy. Hyde a quirky recluse. When a chance meeting with Hyde's loving yet interfering family brings the two opposites together, it holds true to the saying opposite due truly attract. The story has a quick start, jumping right into Gypsy and Hyde's meeting. Then a slow build to tell the each character's personal backstories. The characters are well developed and compliment, not only each other but the story nicely. The only real criticism I have for the story, is that I would loved to see more of the story to the unraveling of a certain blond pain in the --- . Make sure not to pass up this read this summer a definite 5 star read.

    R. E. Hargrave is a new to me author. Wanted was better than I expected!

I hadn't read a book where any character did the audio recordings for books. It was fascinating learning about that world.

I loved the way the author built the relationship between Hyde and Gypsy. I liked that they started to trust each other with their history. I loved the way their story evolved. It wasn't a cookie-cutter story.

There were a few surprises, and I loved the way the author wrapped it all up.

RE Hargrave has such a great way of weaving a story that just lures you in and the characters feel like your friends. I have all of RE Hargrave's book.s I am so happy to add this one to my collection. Welcome Back and Don't keep us waiting so long next time :)

Hyde Johnson may narrate erotic tales, but his personal life is anything but. A confirmed reclusive bachelor with some pent up family issues, he gives the illusion that he is content with his lifestyle. His brother and sister-in-law know different. They love him and are worried about his mental and physical health.
Gypsy Hartford is a young, single woman who has been left with the daunting charge of raising her adolescent niece, Tina when Gypsy's sister suddenly passes away. Her life is far from perfect - she has no career, no money, no car and above all, no job.
A chance conversation overheard in a local coffee shop sets the stage for Hyde and Gypsy's meeting.
While this story is short, it is packed full of emotions. Redemption, assessing one's self worth, learning to trust, letting go of the past and above all - accepting love.
The one character who stood out for me was Tina and her ability to connect with Hyde in a way no one has ever been able to do. Their friendship was so touching and I believe the kindling for the story.
Hargrave, while best known for her erotic, BDSM tales proves with this book that her genre limits are endless. She is a great story teller and quite frankly, I will continue to read what she writes.
    Well done, Ms. Hargrave!

This book is a reflection of RE Hargrave’s talent. I have read many of her books and this one adds to my favorite list. She always comes up with great stories, in different genre too.
I love the fact that Hyde Johnson is an audio narrator. It adds a little something to the story in my opinion. He lives the bachelor life and pretends to be happy with it. He has his world turned upside down by Gypsy Hartford. After the passing of her sister, Gypsy has to take care of her niece. It isn’t an easy task but she’s willing to find a way to live a better life.
I like how the characters get together. How they build their own story. Hyde is a character I would like to see again.
It’s a great story. A must read. Get your copy now.
