About the author
Best-selling writer and author, Joe Siccardi is a prolific storyteller of inspirational wisdom-filled books about life. His latest offering is "My Name Is Sam ... and Heaven Is Still Shining Through." It is a novelization of his March 2018 debut release of the novella "Heaven Shining Through" which has been claiming rave reviews by book reviewers and book bloggers alike.
The author released his second book in November 2018 titled "Wisdom From A Father: One dad's thoughts about life." A beautiful collection of essays about love, life, marriage and raising his children. With a dash of wit and fatherly life lessons and just released in 2019 his first fictional memoir and follow-up to "Heaven Shining Through" titled; "My Name Is Sam ...and Heaven Is Still Shining Through." All the authors' books are available on Amazon Books, Amazon Kindle, and many fine online bookstores.
He is a graduate of Dominican College of Blauvelt (NY) and holds a BA degree in Liberal Arts. Joe began his career with Paterson (NJ) News and continued for the next 52 years in a variety of positions as editorial writer, editor, and publisher. He now writes and publishes his works as a new Indie Author. He has an official website he calls wisdomfromafather.com and shares all about life and fatherhood.
The storyteller says it well. Joe states, "I'm the ordinary Joe walking along this journey called life and sharing it with you." And he has the life experience to back this statement as a proud father of five children, 18 grandchildren, three great-granddaughters, and a fourth great-granddaughter expected in the fall.
He has gathered all his life and work experiences from living in many places on East Coast and Midwest like Paterson, Totowa, Newton and Ogdensburg, NJ; Belvidere, IL; Toledo, OH; Washington, DC; Laurel, MD; and Seneca Falls and Willard (Romulus), NY.
When not writing Joe enjoys travel, cooking, and spending time with all his grown children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He also enjoys pleasure reading some of his favorite authors and writers like James Patterson, Tom Clancy, and his literary wish is a meeting with icon author Mr. Stephen King ... Joe Siccardi is currently traveling and visiting all his children in many states.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2019What I love about this book is that you can read as much, or as little, at a time as you want. No matter how little time you have, you still get a thought provoking scenario to think on through the day. Wisdom from a Father...one dad's thoughts on life gives short stories that you can easily connect with, and connects them with a thought to ponder on.
Anyone can pick up this book and get something from it. Although Joe Siccardi's Christian roots show through, the book is not preachy. It is a book about a father's life, little snippets that all of us can relate to. While you are experiencing little pieces of the author's life, you are left with an uplifting sentence to ponder on. Some are just reminders to keep your head up, others help correct your path, and others refocus your mind.
What I like about these little stories is that they are so relatable and so honest. They are all stories that could, or do, happen in our lives. And that little tidbit reminder at the end? I love how it so easily connects to the story. The author definitely sees things from a different perspective than most, yet it is so easy to see why he would have that perspective. I find this very refreshing. The thoughts to ponder upon are not forced, they easily flow with the story they relate to.
All in all, you can look at this book like a book on wisdom (hence the name!). However, instead of just getting a fortune cookie phrase to remember, you get to see into the author's life to understand the why behind the wisdom. You can see what precipitated the wisdom saying.
As someone who gravitates toward the book of Proverbs and Ecclesiastes in the Bible, I appreciate the format of this book. The why is brief, yet effective and the wisdom gleaned is beneficial if applied. Much like my conversations with my grandmother when I was little. 😊

Images in this review - Reviewed in the United States on May 5, 2019Wisdom From a Father is a great collection of entries taken from Joe Siccardi's blog with the same title. There are 52 entries, one for each week of the year, if you decide to read it that way. You can read as much or as little as you choose, but each entry will give you a little inspiration, a little hope, a little insight into the life of Joe Siccardi. But in each one you'll also find a nugget of truth, a similarity to something in your own life. I had several favorites throughout the book, but some of the ones that stayed with me were: Mad Max, Every Day a Friday, and Pepperoni Dreams had two pages turned down. This one's thought to remember states: "We have what we need to be happy. We just don't have the right perspective."
Anyone can get something from this book as there are different subjects and content. Need a little inspiration, read Dion Shares His Truth. Need a laugh, read Mad Max.
I look forward to reading other books by this author!
I received a free copy in the hope that I would mention/review it on my blog. I was not required to give a positive review, only my honest opinion - which I've done. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own and I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 5, 2019I received the book from the author for an honest review.
Overall a very thought-provoking piece. The author shares very fond and endearing memories of his late wife. It is clearly a devoting relationship between husband and wife.
However, I found it somewhat difficult to read due to the awkward layout, here and there were some spelling errors.
Otherwise a touching heart to heart story.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2019I was a bit hesitant reading this book. I was unsure what it was really about. But as I let myself just enjoy the read, not looking for the connective tissues between each piece but rather the reasoning behind the writing of the book, I began to look forward to each vignette, and the "Thought to Remember" sections.
I’m thankful for this “not quite devotional" book that's inspiring and helps you to keep in mind what's most important in life—living one in which God is leading. Though some of the vignettes were a little pedestrian, many were touching and affective in many ways.
I loved “Conversation With God”. The truth of it put a smile on my face. The daughter's guest post, “Another View”, is inspiring...speaking of a point in my life where I'm at now, which is needing to trust where God has me going in the next steps I'm taking in life, no matter how long and rocky each step seems to be. I also loved the "Thought to Remember" from “Here’s Ron”: “If you get kicked in the rear, it means you’re out in front.” And “Changes” is a fine telling of the meeting of minds of faith between the author and his wife.
All-in-all, this book can be an inspiration to anyone who wants to leave memories and words of wisdom for family or for the world.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 24, 2019This is a collection of short stories or blog entries. Each story gives its own powerful message. I can say that honestly, this is not my typical read and review type of book, but I found it well written and a good read. It was full of a "fathers wisdom."
It had me smiling at times and sad at others. It was an excellent book of memoirs so to speak. Each story makes you think, I guess. Each story can be seen in any daily life. I saw some of these in my life. Sometimes it takes a story or book such as this to make you open your eyes.
Overall, this is an enjoyable read and one I plan to tell my father about.
