- Reviewed in the United States on July 9, 2017This was good story of something that could happen if w take for granted our freedom. We should always be thankful for the freedom we have. The novel brought ought the true meaning of freedom. The story held my attention to the very end.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2017This book had me hooked, wanting to know what would happen in the end. I HATED Adrian. He was just too slimy. I just couldn't give this book a 5 star rating, though. I found the torture Sydney had to undergo was just a bit too violent and disturbing for my liking. And then the fact that she married and had sex with Adrian..was almost too much for me to take. In the end, though, I did enjoy the story, even though it seems to parallel the current political situation in our country. I make you wonder if a certain political leader wants to do the same thing Adrian tried to do.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2017I found the plot interesting, but was continually distracted by extra words in sentences, final letters left off of words, etc. The major characters made some unbelievable decisions.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2017Enjoyed the thrill from start to finish. Lots of twists to keep you thinking. Anna stone will neon my list and can't wait for the next one.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2017I have to admit; before I started reading The Territory of Lies I was reading through the reviews and some classified this as a political suspense thriller. I was a little bit intimidated going into the book because political books aren’t really my type of thing. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The writing is flowing and engaging, really easy reading and I feel while this book is centered on a political plot, it wasn’t taking away from the rest of the story. There were plenty of twists and turns surrounding each of the characters and the rest of their story.
Sydney Forrest is a psychiatrist and daughter of a US Senator. One of her patients is a Senator who is slowly unraveling from holding a deadly secret inside. Wanting to find out the truth Sydney soon finds herself tangled in a web of lies, betrayal and deceit. Her boyfriend, FBI agent Blake Edwards, is soon drawn into the drama as well. Hidden in the shadows is a charming businessman who has plans of his own for Sydney and he will stop at nothing to get what he wants. What follows is a thrilling mystery where unraveling a conspiracy is the least of anyone’s problems.
The Territory of Lies is a riveting romantic suspense thriller suitable for adults. There are moments of intense violence.
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily reviewed it. All my opinions and thoughts are in no way influenced by this.
Final Rating: 4 ½ Stars
- Reviewed in the United States on July 19, 2017The story line is good and keeps you guessing. One problem I had with the storyline was that all of a sudden Syd wasn't in the profession she wanted and the storyline took a u-turn and threw the reader back in time for the reason she changed professions. It was not a smooth transition and perhaps should have been addressed earlier in the book.
It was hard to get past the typos and the incorrect usage of words. "Insure" instead of "ensure." Or even, "you can use the landland" instead of "landline." Maybe I'm too picky--but there are even extra letters in word contractions "don'tt."
Using spellchecker and grammar usage on any book helps tremendously, but it will not catch all of the mistakes. Taking time to have someone proofread may catch other errors.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 25, 2017Lots of action and excitement in this book. The characters are well developed and motives as varied as characters. Great adventure.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 21, 2017I don't know if this would be classified as a romantic political thriller suspense, or if that genre even exists. It is more than a romantic suspense. There were moments that grabbed my attention and I could not put it down. There were moments that felt so slow I contemplated putting the book down but, then the story would pick up again. Some of this story had some very dark moments.
I liked Blake, although I expected him to be more of an alpha then he seemed at the beginning. Syd seemed rather cold, aloof, and off putting through parts of the book. My favorite person was GW. I liked his character and his conversation was the most animated of anyone.
For the most part, this was a fast paced, entertaining read. I would give it 3.5 stars. The political scene hit a little too close to home for me. I like to read to escape reality, and I did not find that escape here. That is not to say that in another time and space, I am sure I would have enjoyed it more. I would suggest you read it and judge for yourself. I think it is well worth the effort.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
