- Reviewed in the United States on March 10, 2017Another great Emlyn Goode mystery! It's easy to love the characters, who have their personal issues, strained relationships - they're just real! Emlyn's discovery of her magic is just as much about her self-discovery, and it's an interesting journey we get to go further on in Dead Again. As for the mystery, Solomon throws so many plausible scenarios in there, even when she is leading you to the conclusion, you still have no idea who did it! This novel cast its spell on me (I finished it in one very long evening!), and I can't wait for the next one!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 5, 2017A fabulous sequel to the Magic of Murder. Once again Emmlyn Goode brings me into her world while trying to solve another murder. The decriptions are so on point I can literally see what the author Susan Solomon wants me to see. The humor is something I've come to expect and look forward to . To be entertained as well as engrossed ... the perfect book for me. I can't wait for the next Ms Goode escapade!!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 23, 2018The third installment of the Emlyn Goode mystery series was the best yet. The Emlyn-Roger curve ball kept me on pins and needles, and I couldn't read fast enough to find out if it would be resolved. Another good job, Susan Solomon. On to the next one!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2016Another excellent read by Susan Solomon. The characters in this installment of the Emlyn Goode mysteries really find their footing and I couldn't be more impressed with how well developed they are in "Dead Again." 5 stars for a truly entertaining story. Can't wait for the next one!

- Reviewed in the United States on April 22, 2017Another awesome read by Susan Solomon. Once again a book I couldn't put down. She has a magical way of drawing you in and entangling you in her web off mystery and intrigue. It really is a must read!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 4, 2017EMLYN GOODE IS BACK AND WE ARE GLAD!
Author Susan Lynn Solomon’s Niagara Falls, New York, is a small town where everybody knows everybody else and their business too.
Intermediate witch and sleuth Emlyn Goode has a big problem: three murder victims and a grimoire that holds the answers. Trouble is, she is not skilled enough—yet—to harness its power.
She will.
The second in the Emlyn Goode Mystery series, DEAD AGAIN is rife with nasty characters, including a lugubrious drunk and a hell cat of a soon-to-be ex-wife. There are also people to cheer for: Niagara Falls detective and love interest Roger Frey (the ex-wife is his problem) and Emlyn’s Semper Fi sidekick and partner in witchery, Rebecca Nurse. And let us not forget Elvira, the albino cat, who moves and shakes the story along with a backward glance and a cheeky meow.
As with MAGIC OF MURDER, Solomon’s prose is peppered with Shakespearean-type asides that allows Emlyn to communicate directly with the reader. This device is pleasing, in that it places the reader inside the text.
Great for the beach or a winter’s night read by the fireside, DEAD AGAIN is a fine mystery read with a very, very satisfying ending.
5 Stars
- Reviewed in the United States on April 5, 2017***** 5 Cranky Stars ****
Emlyn is a 40ish successfully published author, divorcee, VERY attracted to her neighbor police detective Robert,( whose estranged wife has decided that she wants to try again) and her possibly psychotic, hefty, arrogant cat Elvira is her constant companion. Just by the way, Emlyn is a novice witch, descended from a long line of witches.
Emlyn's mother comes to stay in order to attend her 42nd high school reunion and she is hell bent on Emlyn being her plus one, much to Emlyn's chagrin her best friend Rebecca Nurse, the local herbalist/tarot card expert STRONGLY encourages her to accompany her mother because the card predicted trouble at the reunion.
An entertaining tale unfolds as a 42 year old cold case of a murder again becomes relevant, another 3 murders of women who were all part of the same high school clique, an ancient time travel spell is attempted, romances flourish and the cat is EVER present with her own opinion.
I enjoyed this tale tremendously, especially the thread of dry humor that threads its way through the story, and I would love to read more by this author.
I award 5 stars to this delightful story

5.0 out of 5 stars against her better judgement, into accompanying her mother to a high ...
Emlyn Goode is reluctantly convinced, against her better judgement, into accompanying her mother to a high school reunion only to find a murder has taken place there. When this is shortly followed by her own mother’s death, it all seems related to a murder that took place decades ago. One that her mother was considered a suspect for. From trying to piece together what happened, while trying not to romance the nice detective from next door, to trying a time travel spell, Emlyn has to come up with the answers before she becomes the next victim.
This is a great story with a well thought out murder mystery and several bits of magic thrown in for good measure. I do like the way that magic is not used as a general device to solve everything but adds to the story and finding the solution still requires thinking about. The characters are fun to read about, and watching as they handle the situation is quite satisfying. I would strongly recommend this book.
