About the author
Susanne Matthews lives in Eastern Ontario, Canada with her husband. She has three grown children and five grandchildren. Of French-Canadian descent, although her ancestry is British Isles, Susanne is an avid reader of all types of books, but with a penchant for happily ever after romances regardless of what it takes to get there. A retired educator, she spends her time writing and creating adventures for her readers in a variety of genres that range from contemporary to romantic thrillers. She loves the ins and outs of complex stories and the journey it takes to get from the first word to the last period of a novel. As she writes, her characters take on a life of their own, and she shares their fears and agonies on the road to self-discovery and love. After all, everyone deserves a happy ending!

- Reviewed in the United States on November 8, 2020Come Home for Christmas is the sweet story of Krista and Ethan, lost love found again. But he comes as a package deal now. Will Krista make a little girl’s Christmas wish come true?
Five out of five fairy kisses for this reader.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2015Krista Jacobs has had one heck of a bad year. After a nasty, public divorce with her Russian ex-husband hockey player, a man who was as nasty off the ice as he was on it, she could really use some uplifting. She's running out of cash after quitting her job on the NHL team, and when she gets a call from Seven Oaks, an Albertan ranch she never thought she would return to, the promise of an inheritance sends her back hoping she'll get out better this time than she did the last. What she didn't count on, however, were the lies that forced her out of Seven Oaks ... and Ethan.
I really enjoyed this tale from Susanne, like I do with all her works. It's short, it's very sweet, and it's about redemption and second chances set in a Canadian town at Christmas time. There wasn't a great deal of conflict, but the story didn't really need it with all the past history that kept the heroine and hero separated for so long. That was, in my opinion, enough for them to have to work through without adding more to it.
If you enjoy romances set at Christmastime, a little sweetness mixed in with your cold, then Come Home for Christmas is a great tale.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2015I bought this book because I was dying to know more about Krista's backstory. Why did her uncle kick her out? Why didn't Ethan ever reach out to her?
Then the more I read, the more I found to enjoy. A delightfully quaint small town with the sweetest Christmas traditions. An adorable five-year old that, though not biologically his, wraps her adopted dad, Ethan, (and everyone else in town) around her little pinky.
This was the perfect, quick read to top off the holidays. And if I was living a little vicariously through these characters (hey, I miss snow!), then so be it.
Two people who both held on to the hope of happily ever after with their first loves, despite all the awful stuff life had thrown at them. <cue happy sigh>
Take your own little trip to Alberta, Canada and check this out. You won't be sorry.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2015Susanne Matthews has done it again! I loved this holiday story! Heartwarming and nostalgic Christmas set in Canada. I would recommend this for a gift or even just to get in the Christmas spirit.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2024Although I enjoyed this soft romance cozy Christmas story, there were a lot of writing in the book that either made it hard to follow at times or was too repetitive. There was too much background information during key parts that I had to reread sections, skipping the fluff just to understand what was going on. Not only that but its supposed to be a romantic book but there's too much repeats and not enough romance. The author could've written about scenes that were briefly mentioned, creating a better romantic feel rather than repetitive nonsens.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 21, 2015Ever since I discovered Susanne Matthews I have been hooked. She is such a versatile author. Everything from romantic suspense, to inspirational, to now a Christmas tale. I know when I open one of her books. I will not want to put it down until I have finished it.
Krista is coming home for the first time in ten years. Her uncle kicked her out once she finished school, but now for some reason he has left her a share in the family farm as long as she spends Christmas there.
When Ethan finds out his father double crossed step-cousin, Krista, he sets out to right this terrible injustice. Once Krista finds out about her uncle’s deceit, will she want to accept Ethan back into her life, or has his father destroyed their chance at happiness.
I fell in love with Krista Jacobs character from the start. She had a very raw deal from her NHL ex-husband, but she does not let it turn her bitter. The way she accepted Ethan’s adopted daughter melted my heart.
Ethan Terrance is everything I love about a hero. His determination to right his father’s wrong showed what an honorable man he is. On top of that, his willingness to accept responsibility for his god-daughter when her parents were killed touched my heart.
Come Home for Christmas is a heart-warming and sweet story, perfect for this time of year. If you enjoy clean, holiday tales, then you will love this book. Happy reading!

4.0 out of 5 stars Christmas reunion romance
This was a nice little story about two people pulled apart by the vindictive behaviour of a family member. Ten years have gone by and Krista is coming home to deal with her uncle’s will and see Ethan for the first time in ten years. It’s been a particularly rough time for Krista who has been married and recently divorced. Ethan has an adopted daughter who adds to the Christmas and family spirit.
