- Reviewed in the United States on January 25, 2017This book was very sweet and touching - perhaps a little too sappy at times. The life of the Curry's appears to be too unrealistic. It is encouraging to hear all the good advice given to Gail bout taking care of herself. All moms should listen and learn!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 18, 2015“I Love Christmas,” is book one of the Oakville Family Christmas series. It is a good old fashion Christmas story with a close family, adoring characters, and an offbeat romance story. Author, Giulietta M. Spudich, takes the reader on a Christmas adventure— “road trip” style. Gail, is an uptight overprotective mother, and a nurse. Against her better judgement takes her beautiful, perky daughter, Raven, on a trip to her brother’s, family’s home for the Christmas holiday. Gail’s internal dialogue seems to be always on and keeps her forever a skeptic and somewhat suspicious of the intent of others. Can the holiday magic melt away her seemingly cold heart? Take the trip with Gail and Raven and find out in this Sweet Christmas tale.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 19, 2015You should all take the time to read this one. It's a quick read but it's very sweet. A Christmas story of family and friends. I really enjoyed this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 15, 2015Single mom Gail and her teenage daughter Raven, have been invited to spend Christmastime with her brother's in-laws in the small town of Oakville, Ohio. Tired and over-worked from her nursing job, Gail would rather stay home on her vacation and get some rest. But she agrees to the eight-hour drive from their apartment in New York, and week away, for Raven's sake, who seems to have inherited her father's adventurous spirit. And, if she times it right, Gail will still have three days at home to rest when they get back. Unbeknownst to Gail, though, her daughter has invited someone to join them there...someone Gail would rather not see.
Will this hard-working mother and her spirited daughter have the time of their lives this Christmas , or will it turn out to be a disaster? You'll want to read this heart-warming Christmas story and see.

Christmas stories are always charming. This one was no exception.
You can never understand the what a single parent goes through until you become one. Handling everything on their own, sometimes they forget that their own life exists. Having nobody else to take care of them but their child, they are only jubilant when the child is full of joy.
Gail is a single mother, parenting her teenage daughter Raven. Both of them are invited to celebrate Christmas at their relative's place. Working as a nurse to support her family, Gail has somehow lost herself. She agrees for this road trip and vacation as her daughter insists. Will this holiday provide an opportunity to Gail to enjoy her life some more?
Quick to read and much more to take home. Warm, heartfelt and lovely read.
Recommended to family drama and YA readers.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 1, 2015I Love Christmas kicks off the Oakville Family Christmas Collection with a story to warm the heart. Christmas is a time for family and that’s just what Gail hopes to give her seventeen year old daughter this holiday—a family Christmas. It’s just the two of them, so when Gail’s sister-in-law invites them to Oakville for the holidays, she jumps at the chance. In her effort to provide a great Christmas for her daughter, Gail forgets her own needs are important until a certain someone convinces her otherwise.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok Christmas read
This is the first book I have read by this author.
It is a short story set around Christmas with a family of characters who are well-drawn. It includes some spelling mistakes / typos such as heroine for heroin, but they are not very numerous. There are a couple of issues such as the description of how a day is spent, including eating a sandwich lunch and going to the family dinner which suddenly becomes lunch, and the timeline of visiting the town 5 years ago when Raven was 10, but she is now 17. Gail sometimes seems to be less than pleasant with her thoughts of Kitty's baking being undercooked, and the manicure which left her nails uneven although her questioning the cost of Kitty and John's present of the spa treatments shows how rude and ungrateful she is.
It wasn't the worst Christmas story I have read but not the best either.
