New Adult Romance author. Reading was my earliest passion, often seeking the sanctuary of my room or the library to read everything I could get my hands on.
I probably drink too much coffee and eat too much junk food, but to compensate do like running and rollerblading outdoors when the weather is nice. I'm a hopeful romantic who prefers stories with a happy ending. You can often find me in a library or coffee shop working on my next story, or with my nose in a book.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 20, 2017When I saw the name of the book: Jemma 1: Entertainment with Jem, Book 1 by Clarissa Carlyle I was intrigued. Then I read the blurb about Jemma being a blogger an entertainment blogger, something that has always intrigued but I have never done an entertainment blog. I have a book review blog, but I don’t do entertainment.
I really like how the author built the characters, Jemma, the blogger, her little brother Robbie who she is responsible for, her friend Maya and the heartthrob Daniel Starke. Of course, there are more characters but these four were pretty much the main ones for me.
I thought the story started out fast, didn’t take long to understand the story and to be hooked. There is lots of drama, Jemma is trying to make a living blogging and has done good enough but of course wants better. She gets a chance to interview the star of a Reality TV show. She is excited to do the interview, but, Jemma is pretty shy and quiet, doesn’t like to cause a scene or even be in the middle of any drama, she just wants to do her blog. Of course, that can’t happen, come on, we have a reality tv star Daniel Starke who is hot and everyone wants a piece of him. Nothing can go smoothly.
I will say that I really enjoyed reading this first book. I loved the authors style and she didn’t leave anything out. The story went smoothly. Easy to read and understand the characters. After I read the first book I had to read the second and am working on the whole series. This book was a fun book to read. This book has adult situations.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2018I previously read Managed - Rock Star Romance series and read about Jemma some and decided I really needed to read this series. It pulled me in right away and kept me reading. Book 1 is quick and easy to read and I liked the characters (for the most part - although some I'm not supposed to like so it's all good). You've got Jemma who is doing her best to care for her 7year old brother. She meets Daniel - reality TV star - and things get crazy. There is some serious chemistry between the two but life is definitely not easy for them as some other characters get involved. A bumpy ride for sure! As soon as I finished this book and went right into book 2. I just finished book 2 and now I want to read book 3...seeing a pattern here? Glad I gave it a try. Definitely looking forward to reading more in this series. Reality TV is definitely not for the weak...
- Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2020I love how Jemma is dedicated to taking care of her little brother and doing everything she can for him. I really enjoyed that Daniel isn't the jerk that he has been portrayed to the public. The sparks between Jemma and Daniel are intense and make the story even better. I really hate the vlogger so much and can't stand people like her. I've even blocked her name from my memory and can't remember it for anything. Also hate the manager because of his slimeyness. The narrator did an amazing job and gave the story this hopeful feel to it.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 13, 2018Honestly, I didn't read much of this book. I liked the story idea but the writing style was lowered with to many mistakes and poorly selected words. My daughter, who is not picky about writing styles, might really enjoy this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 8, 2017Anyone who is a blogger, especially if you’re getting paid for each hit, and even if you’re not you might be able to relate to the situation Jemma Larson is facing in her life.
Picture if you will, your parents have been killed in a car accident, and you’re now the head of the household responsible for paying the bills, providing the daily necessities for not only yourself, but for your baby brother. And if you’re familiar with how fast a Social Services Agency will come in and break up a family when the youngest members of a family are not being taken care in the manner they deemed to be appropriate, then you’ll understand the dire situation Jemma Larson is beginning to face.
Jemma is no stranger in facing difficult times, especially financial ones, but with an ever increasing competition in the blogging world, she needs to come up with a viable idea which is sure to produce a phenomenal blog post, which will capture the attention of thousands of readers and be the envy of every other blogger.
But in order to accomplish this some sort of miracle to occur. It is then that fate steps in and gives her the opportunity to have an exclusive interview with none other than Daniel Starke, the newest infatuation of women on reality TV. However, according to everything she’s heard about this guy makes him out to no more than an egotistic, philandering idiot. Getting this interview would definitely mean a tremendous increase in her readers and the much needed income which would come along with it.
But as she quickly finds out, everything she’s heard has actually been lies and allegations caused by the proverbial gossip mills. Daniel, Jemma she discovers is a totally sweet and adorable hunk and sparks begin ignite in a relationship which pushes her into the forefront and forces her to discard the shyness she possessed up to now, while at the same time learning about the true world of entertainment.
While this might seem wonderful for Jemma, there an imposing negative side to the blogging world that she now faces, one which is fraught of jealousy of another blogger that can only be resolved with a confrontation.
This is one heck of a way to begin a series, and for enticing her readers in this manner, I’ve given Ms. Carlyle 5 STARS
- Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2017I am not a fan of synoptic reviews, so I don't write them. The synopsis is always in the blurb; anything beyond that I prefer to discover for myself. I found the plot of this book interesting with an insight into the world of professional bloggers. What I didn't like was the almost mid-scene cliffhanger at the end of the book. I checked out the second book only to find that this story is drawn out over FIVE volumes. It is stretching it to think the plot warrants two volumes, but five? Hardly Game of Thrones complexity here! I actually enjoy book series, but much prefer those that have stand-alone volumes that may revisit characters from previous titles in the series. While Jemma 1 was OK, wading through five volumes to find out the HEA, no thanks!

5.0 out of 5 stars First book of the series for free, go grab it!
I got this book free on Amazon and after I liked other books of this author before I gave it a try. Jemma is a 23 year old girl who blogs to earn the money she needs to provide her 7 year old brother a life with her. She takes care of him since her parents died and when she finds out that only writing blogs doesn't attract as many people as before and she needs to start interviews and videos, she picks Daniel as a celebrity to start with. Clearly not knowing what she puts herself into.. but be prepared, this book ends with a cliffhanger.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good read
This book has some really great characters that are truly caring, wonderful people. There are also some really nasty ones that I'd like to smack upside the head. Jem and Daniel have an instant attraction but there are some obstacles (people) trying to ruin what could be an amazing relationship. This is the beginning of their story

4.0 out of 5 stars Feel good read
I found this story enjoyable. I like romances where the characters are reasonably believable and Jemma is a likable leading lady. The pace was good and it has a feelgood factor, much like a decent romcom movie. And the hot and steamy scenes were well portrayed. As a free taster for the rest of the series, it is excellent value! I have put the boxed set on my waitlist for another day.
