Bound to a Vampire: Into the Dark Woods Kindle Edition

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 64 ratings

Cassandra Montclaire is a three-hundred-and-sixty-year-old vampire living in modern-day New York. Her human life ended three centuries earlier when, condemned as a witch, she was rescued and turned by a Master Vampire named Killian. Bonded in a passionate trio with their Protector, the three lived an exciting and dangerous life full of love, decadence, and dark passion. But then Killian vanished without a trace. Until now.

A human ally of Cassandra’s has proof Killian is alive and is killing off members of his organization. Killian is now a marked man, and Cassandra must find him before time runs out and he is eliminated.

But Cassandra must first journey into her torrid past and face her demons before she can fight for what was lost.

Filled with erotic passion, great tragedy, and dark mystery, Bound to a Vampire is a turbulent thriller that delves into the history of vampires and the dramatic events that shaped them into who they are. For fans of Vampire Mistress by Joey Hill, author Grey Francis creates a vibrant world where secrets abound and the BDSM power exchange between mates is as essential to their survival as the blood they drink.

Welcome to my author page. I live in Los Angeles with my two teenage kids and four cats. I write paranormal romance with distinct erotic edge. My books, Bound to a Vampire and King in Chains, are the first two novels in my vampire series, Into the Dark Woods, which follow the lives and loves of a threesome back and forth in time.

What I have always felt was missing in most vampire literature are personal histories. Creatures who have lived for centuries are fascinating to me. They leave behind them a long trail of damaged relationships that have a way of catching up with them in the present. What I created is a multi-layered story weaving together the past and present, that could just as easily been titled The Secret Lives of Vampires.

I am an avid reader of paranormal and magic themed literature. I'm a huge fan of JR Ward and Joey Hill. Beyond vampires, I love Neil Gaiman, Constance Sayers, Erin Morgenstern, C.M. Stunich, Lev Grossman, just to name a few weavers of magic on the page...

In my former life, pre-book writing, I wrote screenplays and worked in the film industry. I am currently adapting a dark, romantic reincarnation script into novel form. I will be continuing my Into the Dark Wood series, focusing on a number of intriguing characters they you will meet in Books 1 & 2.

I'm a big fan of vampire books but not such a big fan of menage romance. Am I ever glad that I listened to a friend's recommendation and bought this novel anyway! It's got a perfect love triangle, lots of sizzling scenes with quite a touch of BDSM, believable characters and a fascinating world of darkness and light. I loved being transported into the past while also watching their story unfold in the present. Will definitely check out Book 2 in the series.

I read about 300 books a year for more than a decade. This just shot to the top spot on my list. I loved everything about it.
And I have read them all.
In essence I struggle to find a good paranormal series these days I haven't read.
    Well done.

I was a lucky winner of this novel and didn't know what to expect. The book arrived. It's not a small book. Or a small, quick read. Grey Francis takes the reader into an intricate world where her words float about like waltzing dancers. They hold your interest and I confess I am not a history buff the weave of her character's lives and the times they live through, the hazards and heartbreaks drowned me in the lush story. If you like vampires, this is a new spin on their legend. It is also not for a timid reader. The BDSM contained is as richly written as her action and adventure.

This book was pretty good, it had a lot of angst and a lot of spice, great overall story, it’s like a MMF spicy interview with the vampire. Probably won’t read book 2 though. Book 1 wrapped up well enough and I know book 2 will probably have more of this exact issue. There was one plot point that in my opinion was entirely unnecessary and made me almost dnf multiple times…spoiler warning:
One of the MMC’s cheated on his partners repeatedly. This was not some sort of open relationship deal and the FMC was extremely heartbroken every time, asking him not to each time. The other MMC never cheated on them however he did condone it and told the FMC to “grow up”, calling her an emotional child for being so upset her lover cheated repeatedly. This behavior is condoned in the book as just “his nature” and the FMC is often apologizing to him for being jealous. Sure he acts remorseful afterwards (not because he stepped out though only, he explicitly said he enjoyed what he did, but because she’s mad at him) I find this plot point ridiculous and unnecessary to the entire story as we see that this MMC is supposedly extremely in love and devoted to his mates. And he’s a hypocrite (which is mentioned in the book). I don’t think the excuse they gave as it being his nature is valid honestly. I slightly understand why he had to seek a dominant male lover after the other MMC’s disappearance, but when they were all together he had no reason to sleep with other woman when his was right there and willing. This really upset me especially because it was played off as his nature and something the FMC was forced to get over. Now the FMC did have one male lover as well, but only after hundreds of years of watching her partner step out of their marriage. Really sad and uncomfortable to read honestly and didn’t add to the plot.

A book of sensuous grace where old world meets the new in a spell binding journey. Born in 1640 when witches were feared, Annwyn, the main character of the story, was full of fear, even as she helped those she could. Her special gift of healing labeled her a sorceress and they came for her violently and without mercy. She is tossed from her human existence when the terror of the night becomes her hero, rescuing her from the brutality that makes up human, changing not only her physical make-up but changing her name from Annwyn to Cassandra.

Bound to a Vampire invokes strong emotions from the reader as they are pulled along a path of vivid descriptions. Appearing both as backdrop in color and smells and scents, where even the smallest detail such a flower is brought to life; to the full sexual experience of the first time being the a man not totally man who processes an inner knowledge of what the two of you can be together. The reader feels what Cassie feels, understands her emotions and her wants while she not only *discover* the world of vampirism, but *thrives* in it, building a life for herself when she goes off on her own.

Grey Francis has developed a story full of strong characters with even stronger, domineering personalities. Her simple use of language makes the world no longer simple but a vibrant picture which entertains as well as it mystifies. Though not a fan of first person novels, I was able to enjoy the full range of feelings brought about by witnessing the tale through Cassandra’s eyes.

I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did. Actually, I fell absolutely in love with it! The connection between the three characters is something I have always wanted in a book. It is filled to the brim with sexual encounters and you fall deeply for each an every one of them. Not only is it great erotica, beautifully written, but the story itself is a work of art.
