HAWAIIAN CHRISTMAS MISADVENTURES IS AN ENJOYABLE STORY FILLED WITH LOVE AND SOME MISUNDERSTANDINGS. I ENJOYED THE FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN KEVIN AND STACEY. THEY HAD A LOT OF CHEMISTRY. THE CHARACTERS ARE VERY BELIEVABLE AND WHO WOULDN'T WANT THEIR BOSS TO TAKE THEM TO HAWAII FOR VACATION. A MUST READ. LOOKING FORWARD TO READING MORE BOOKS BY GIULIETTA M. SPUDICH.

The main character Stacey's interactions with her husband and best friend form the basis of a love triangle in this story. It's complicated by Stacey's co-worker Christine, and I really liked the way the two female characters portrayed how friendships with other women can sometimes be stressful and have a lot of layers to them. I also appreciated how Christine was not a caricature of the "hot, insensitive girl," and had motives hinted at of her own. Stacey is likable and you are rooting for her the whole way through the book.

This is my least favorite Christmas story that I have read. It is not really Christmasy other than it takes place a day or two before Christmas. You don’t feel that Christmas Magic that is usually there in wintertime stories. Didn’t really like the narrator either.

Believable characters, delicious setting, and a crisp bright style make this story of misunderstandings between friends and lovers compulsively readable. The plotting is seamless, with no false starts, no irrelevancies. Every new development a surprise at first but then makes perfect sense because she's laid the groundwork. Nothing just comes out of nowhere. The characters feel like real individuals, not predictable stick figures, and the problems they face are just as real. Stacey's changing view of the competitive but insecure Chris is especially insightful writing.

    What an intriguing story!
There's a lot of new developments, twists and of course, romance, packed into one relatively short story.
Stacey is the main character, a married woman in her late 3o's whose life is about to get interesting.
Her friend Christine is much more than just a 2 dimensional character put there for the main character to have conversations with.
She's an interesting, layered character in her own right and has her own romance situation going on.
I enjoyed this story with its complexities of several different relationship dynamics, lovers, spouses and friends and how simple misunderstandings can really mess things up.
