- Reviewed in the United States on July 22, 2024The book is amazing, well written, fascinating and takes the reader on a superb spiritual journey.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 2, 2014The publisher (Starfield Press) asked me to preview The Healer, and I'm HOOKED! Lloyd Matthew Thompson creates a fantasy that will appeal to fans of Anne Rice, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Poul Anderson, and other writers of alternate universes and "practical magic." The Healer quickly pulled me into a cinematic multiverse of miracles, magic, science, and mystery. I'm awarding FOUR STARS instead of five because I wanted MORE of the backstories that teased me throughout the novel: The child with a miraculous and dangerous touch, an ancient world that vibrates with health and peace (that is overcome with greed and envy), an ageless, beautiful villain, and a buried prophet who should explain the real meaning of "Murphy's Law" left spaces in the narrative that made a powerful climax a bit too easily resolved. ALL of the characters are ready to roll into an exciting series of old and new adventures and I want to follow them as soon as they are available!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2014This is a first novel for author Lloyd Matthew Thompson. The plot and characters read like an action adventure movie. For such a young writer his mastery of language is refreshing and appreciated. It sucked me in like a big ol' Hoover. I read so many books each week I was becoming jaded. I thoroughly enjoyed this work and am hoping this will be a serial series.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 4, 2014A friend recommended this book and I bought it along with another by the same author called Lightworker which I read first. I absolutely loved both. What a truly gifted writer. You will not be disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars thoroughly enjoyable
Lovely use of language which always thrills me. Those with an affinity to water element will find some scenes very intriguing. This was a great reminder that gifts never die no matter how long we may set them aside, and that the most ordinary of people can be world changers in disguise,
