About the author
Alesha Cary grew up reading mysteries and she still loves a good who-dunnit. But she's also a romantic at heart and believes we all deserve our own happily-ever-after -- we just have to find the right person. She writes her books with a bit of romance and a bit of mystery ~ and sometimes a splash of paranormal.
The mixture is different for each book, but you can expect to find some of each in every story.
Just like her characters, Alesha lives on the Pacific Northwest Coast with her husband and two cats. Their neighbors are deer, raccoons, skunks, foxes, mountain lions and bear, and far too many birds to list. From her window she gets to watch the whales playing as they migrate.
Alesha writes the CAROLINE DAWSON, HWE Series, the REDWOOD COVE Series, and THE COSTUME SHOP Series.
>>>ABOUT The Redwood Cove Series:

Will she follow the Shaman's advice or end up in trouble again?
>>>ABOUT The Costume Shop Series:
Owning a Costume Shop may not be everyone's idea of the perfect business or the perfect life, but it suits me just fine. But then, my costumes aren't just for make believe. They're specially made with components that not only draw the perfect customer, but also release the true character of the person who is wearing the costume. A nice balance, I think. But then I'm also careful to make sure my customers are selecting a costume that suits them.
The Costume Shop stories are contemporary fiction that include romance and a bit of the paranormal.
Volume #1 - "Open For Business" - How one young man discovers what's really important to him, a young girl gets her wish, and two very different men finally get to be who they really are.
Volume #2 - "One True Love" - There's someone for everyone. And sometimes, if we're lucky, the fates step in to help.
Volume #3 - "Opposites Attract" - Being willing to let go can sometimes bring you much more than you expect.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 20, 2013As a fan of the Redwood Cove series, it was so much fun to read the Prequel and watch all of the characters come to life in one story. The Promise is the perfect introduction to the beautiful stories that follow.
As always with Alesha's work, there is a hint of romance and paranormal which together keep me turning the page. I love also how the community is so real, the descriptions vivid and the characters grow and evolve throughout the stories. And of course, I'm a sucker for a happy ending. These books never disappoint.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 6, 2013Yes, this is short...but well worth the read before you dive into this great series. I fell in love with this town and these characters, so reading this prequel AFTER was awesome...more detail about how they all arrived in Redwood Cove. Loved it...wish I could have had the salmon myself, bought a wind chime of sea glass and had a psychic reading. Felt like I was there...loved this series.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2013The author writes very well. Descriptions of people, scenes and events are excellent. The atmosphere reads like a series once written by Charles L. Grant (Oxrun Station) but with a bit of romance thrown in. It has all the paranormal trappings but unfortunately no closure to the story.
I know this is a prequel to the Redwood Cove Series but I find it unsatisfying in the end. To me a book, even one in a series, should have a beginning, a middle, and an end. This book ends as though it was half finished. It is for this reason that I give this book a 3 star rating instead of a 5 star rating. A book can still tie all the loose ends and leave the reader wanting more. This book made me feel cheated out of what could have been a great story.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 4, 2013As promised, the author gives a short prequel, introducing the reader to the characters in her Redwood Cove series. Well written and interesting, the author gave me just enough of a taste, to leave me yearning to visit the fictional Redwood Cove and to learn more about what lies in store for these interesting characters. Well done.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 2, 2013This was a nice introduction to a series I haven't read. I do think I'll purchase it now as it looks like it will be a good "reading before bed" series. The small taste of the characters was intriguing. She did a great job of giving a hint of who each of her characters are... a sampling taste that let me know I'd enjoy reading how their lives came together.
She set up a number of questions for me. How will Crystal return to Redwood Cover? Is Ronnie, the stalker, truly dangerous or is Crystal hyper-sensitive? What did Crystal do to her sister? How does the psychic play in all this? What will happen between the spiteful Denise and her ex... and will their son be caught in the middle? Then there is the woman who makes the jewelry, the librarian and the new eco-journalist in town. Ah, and how will they all get together with the men introduced?
Read the prequel as an introduction of characters and of Alesha's writing style. This is like being offered a sample of ice cream to see if you'd like that flavor. Try it and see.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2014More like a short story than a book! It was more like a chapter. A very big disappointment. I hope that It was free and that I did not pay for it.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2014This is a good book to read to unwind. Nothing earth shattering or anything that will keep you hanging on.
