(I got Pinball free from Amazon while it was on sale, but I purchased Replay. My first Kindle book purchase ever -- yay!)

I really enjoyed this book, though not quite as much as the first one. In a nutshell, I didn't feel the science was nearly as tight and the author took a few "Back to the Future"-style liberties with temporal mechanics. Normally that's fine, but the first book was more rigorous and this one caught me off-guard.

That being said, I liked Rick and Stefanie a lot (much more than the main character in Pinball). Their relationship was well developed and touching. When Rick goes back to try to steal more time with her, it made perfect sense -- I'd probably do the same thing in his shoes. I found myself really rooting for him as he tried to fix the damage he caused.

The Gatespace introduced in the first book was very mysterious, so it was cool to read about the team that discovered it and how they treated it initially. Given the storyline of the book, I felt it was extremely powerful and could be very dangerous in the wrong hands. In fact, Replay spends a lot of time introducing and developing the characters who discover the first Gate and examining the time they spend debating the ramifications. That's why I was very disappointed at the end of the book when the author seemed to give up on exploring the ethical aspects of Gatespace. Instead it just ends abruptly with a casual "everyone uses it now and it's all OK". I think there's an entire book's-worth (or series-worth) of material behind the idea of fighting to keep the secret of Gatespace private so it won't be abused. I hope he'll expound on ChroNova's fight to keep history safe in a future work!

Overall, the writing is great, the characters are great and it was worth every penny. I'll be looking for more from Alan Seeger!

I spent the past two days reading Replay and Alan's first story in the trilogy, Pinball, non-stop.
I've 'known' Alan for what must be going on nine years now. We 'met' in the online virtual world of
Second Life. While I knew we shared various bisecting interests, I was until a few months ago unaware of
his prolific talent in spinning a science fiction yarn of this caliber. The mind warping idea of time traveling
was explained in a very believable and scientific manner, all the while carrying the reader on a rollicking adventure.
To say I could not put these books down is the utmost truth. Go ahead and get these books! If you are sci-fi connoisseur,
you will not be sorry in the least. Alan Seeger has a bright shining future as an author of this genre, in my humble opinion.
    Bravo my friend, bravo!

I kept screaming, "No! You can't do that!" To the protagonist, but he kept right on trying to arrange an earlier meeting with his one true love. "You weren't ready for each other, to be together, until you were together," I'd say, but he kept slipping through that time machine he built trying to change the world to his liking.
The result is fantasy in two ways: Gothic romance of and science fiction. Can you imagine what might have happened if Jane Eyre had slipped through a wormhole trying to meet Mr Rochester before his disaterous first marriage?

I thought this book was more cohesive and had a clearer story than the first book in the trilogy. I will definitely read the third book.
