About the authors
My name is Daniel and I'm 33 years old. I've always considered myself a moral person and I lived for many years with an internal dissonance - The desire for animal products, collided with the heavy ethical baggage eating them brought.
But at the age of 28 I decided to change. It was after I spent 6 days in a meditation course (Vipassana) which is held in complete silence that I declared: - "That's it, I'm a vegan!"
When I came back from Vipassana I was troubled. I had no idea what to eat Because my knowledge about vegan cooking was very poor. So I decided to contact members of our worldwide community through forums. I asked for recipes and tips and the response was amazing! I decided to leverage my passion for food and find the ultimate solutions to our community by writing a vegan cookbook.
My vision was to write a series of cookbooks which contain vegan recipes and distribute them to as many people as possible. Each book focuses on one type of food and shows that there are dozens of ways to prepare food that contain only natural products. These books incorporate original recipes and are especially devoted to our wonderful community to enjoy and distribute them.
Here I also urge you - if you have a winning recipe - you are welcome to send it to me along with your picture and the picture of the recipe, and I promise to publish it in my next books. Even if you do not have a recipe, you are invited to share with me your ideas and thoughts.
For a much more harmonious, peaceful, balanced and sane life
Daniel
My name is Jonathan Vine, and I was caught up in the vegetarian lifestyle a few years back. I have to say that giving up on meat did not strike me in a single moment, nor was it a swift decision. It was an inner journey that evolved within a few months. Eventually I came to realize that the thought of animals suffering causes me too much grief to continue eating them. That is my motivation.
I have always been very enthusiastic about cooking. For me this is absolutely one of the greatest joys life can offer. With my vegetarian cooking style, I never feel deprived, but rather, I feel satisfied and exhilarated with each bite.
My goal is to publish books that will empower readers to improve their health and well-being through simple everyday ingredients and low fat recipes that make eating affordable, realistic, and delicious.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 30, 2013I haven't tried any of the recipes in this book yet but there are many that I intend to because I already have a lot of the ingredients in my kitchen-- kidney beans, walnuts, carrots, mushrooms, lentils, brown rice-- way to many to mention. Also this book does have a table of contents. Another nice feature is that is that it has a lot of color photos not of every recipe but a lot more than these cookbooks usually have.
It also starts with a recipe for vegan burger buns which I have to admit I probably won't ever use but still good to have. All in all a great little book.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 21, 2013I really liked this book. My kid is a vegetarian and I've been looking for simple things to get her to eat. The recipes were easy and didn't require obscure ingredients. My only issue is the table of contents. Normally I don't care, but this is a "recipe book" and I'd like to navigate around in it. When I clicked on "go to" the only thing showing was the cover, beginning, etc. I "knew" there was a table of contents because I saw it in the sample. It turns out the only way to get to it is by going to the cover and paging forward. The individual recipes are linked to the TOC, but not the navigation pane. It's such a fundamental thing in a recipe book, it's driving me nuts. I finally bookmarked the recipes I liked. The portabello and pineapple burger was great.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2013This book delivers what the title suggests - The bible of vegan burgers. These recipes do not include extra-ordinary ingredients that you need to chase-down at a store you have never been to. The meals are based on ingredients one would have in a healthy pantry or refrigerator. This is a great book for beginning vegetarians. It was a great book for me, as well and I have been vegetarian or "mostly-meatless" for 20 years...
- Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2013Pleasant surprise. This book introduced me to vegan burgers I never thought possible. You could really tell that the chef is someone who has traveled around the world because there is a lot of influence from different cultures, and she really covers a lot of ground in terms of ingredients. The book is straightforward and easy to follow. I can't wait to try some of these burgers like the squash and pistachio, or grilled eggplant and pesto. Really great cook book with enough recipes to keep you busy for a long time.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 29, 2013I haven't made any of these recipes, but after reading through the book, I look forward to cooking some of the recipes in this book.
I am no way a vegetarian, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the wide range of delicious food found within the pages of this book.
So many recipes just screamed " make me" that I will definitely have to give them a try, and see just how they really taste!
Looking forward to getting the ingredients to try them. Now I have to decide which ones to try first.....
You don't have to be a vegan to enjoy these recipes!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 2, 2014Not being vegan or vegetarian, I'm still always looking for options to replace meats to avoid cholesterol. I think the one thing I really objected to was the use of canned beans. I use a pressure cooker and make my beans, lentils, etc from scratch. Much cheaper, and better for you, because I also add no salt during the cooking process. That being said, the recipes are as varied as tastes could wish for. I do wish there was an index, too.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2013I was very skeptical. I am not a vegetarian myself, and neither is my family. I was simply looking for a way to serve my family something a few nights a week that was healthier. My boys are four and six and appear to be falling into the chicken nugget world of daycare and a busy mommy. With children things need to appear familiar, and these worked. It is an excellent way to get children the fiber and nutrients that so many are missing out on in this fast paced world of backseat dinners. I made the Caribbean Portobello Burgers for my family. My boys didn't even notice. It was very enjoyable knowing I could have a healthy meal with my family without the argument that so many parents face at the dinner table. It was quite enjoyable for myself as well, I intend to use examples from this book to try to better my own health as well. It is a must try for anyone, vegetarian or not, this book offers ideas that can be incorporated into any healthy diet plan.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 30, 2024Just a little disappointed in the book. Not sure what I was looking for. I will try some of the recipes and keep the book. Hopefully I can get something out of it. After thinking about it, what I think is missing is basic burger mix combinations that people can spice as they like. I would have preferred more of that. I may try some veggie burger books. I can veganize them myself.

Quick and easy to prepare. A good place to start for a beginner.
The Vegan burger bun recipe is a bit too vague. I’m not sure you can get that toasty looking bun at 240 degrees. I’m sure an experienced baker can figure it out.
Great book and I liked it.
